Good evening everyone! My name is Eduardo (Eddy) Jimenez, and I am an SJSU alumni (graduated fall of 2018). I am sure that many of you have felt the consequences of Covid-19 as we all had to adjust to these current circumstances and times. I am also sure that many of you have felt the fatigue, stress, and negative emotions which may be the result of these events. I am no exception.
However, I also remember what it was like to enjoy the good things about life. I remember what it was like to be a college student, and how it felt like to put on my kendo uniform as I prepared for practice sessions each week. I remember enjoying sincere moments with my practice partners and friends after a session, and listening to my senseis as we talked during dinners (I remember the lectures too!)
Being part of the Kendo and Naginata club at SJSU was one of the happiest and best moments of my college experience. While I unfortunately got less involved with the club as I became a productive member of society after college, I know that remembering the club, senseis, friends, and lessons still brings warmth to my heart and helps me soldier on during these tough times.
With this said, I would love to give back to the club and contribute in its rebirth and flourishment. This home of mine has given me so much and has helped me in becoming a better human being. Now, with all sincerity, I am here to rebuild this home of mine bit by bit.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like to contribute in the rebirth of this club as well. Any support would be appreciated. While no longer being a student means I cannot get too involved with SJSU, I do have training in kendo and can offer advice and support to help begin this process. Of course, zoom/virtual discussions are always welcome as well!
Take care. Stay safe. I wish you all a goodnight.
To share a nostalgic line from Lowe sensei:
"To those who practice these arts, the mind is free of all evil and selfish thoughts. This, is the basic innocence and spirituality of the arts."
