The Point within the Circle is one of the most elegant symbols in Masonry, and one of the most profound.

At its simplest, it is an ancient hieroglyph of the Sun. The central point represents the source of light. The surrounding circle signifies the universe it illumines and sustains. Light at the center. Order around it.

But the symbol does not end there. The two parallel lines that flank the circle are not decorative. They reflect the Sun’s yearly journey between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, the outer bounds of its visible path at the summer and winter solstices. They mark limit, rhythm, and return.

For the Mason, this is more than astronomy. It is moral architecture.

The point is the individual conscience, steady and centered. The circle is the boundary of conduct, within which one must remain. The parallel lines are the limits of excess, reminders that even the Sun itself moves within ordained bounds.

The lesson is simple yet immense: Light must be governed. Power must know proportion. A life well lived is not one that wanders without restraint, but one that moves in harmony with higher law.

In this single figure, the heavens and the human soul mirror one another.

The Winding Stair is more than architecture. It is a reminder that growth happens in stages. We do not grasp wisdom all at once. We rise to it step by step, according to what we are ready to carry.

The path is not straight. Truth may be simple, but we are not. We learn, we stumble, we adjust, we try again. Every turn is part of the climb.

Each step takes effort. Progress is not given by favor but earned through discipline. What we gain depends on what we are willing to study, to practice, and sometimes to let go.

As we rise, our perspective changes. The noise below grows quieter. What once seemed overwhelming becomes smaller. The climb teaches focus. It gathers scattered thoughts into purpose.

And no one climbs alone. We make room for one another. We move with patience and respect. Real ascent is shared.

At the top there is no throne, only understanding. The true reward is not status, but clearer vision and steadier character.

So when life feels like it’s turning instead of moving straight ahead, remember the Stair. The curve is not failure. If you keep climbing, you are still rising.

May every step in the Lodge be an ascent.
May every trial be a foundation.
May every fall prepare you to rise with greater firmness.

The compass symbolizes self-control, moderation, and the ability to set limits on our passions and actions.

In this Renaissance Inspired engraving, we see the Latin phrase: “Labore et Constantia,” which reminds us that true growth is achieved through work, perseverance, and continuous learning.

A profound message that reflects the spirit of self-improvement and inner construction present in the Masonic tradition.

Every great journey begins with a step into the unknown.

This reinterpretation of an Entered Apprentice Mason— inspired by the Rider-Waite Tarot deck—depicts a Masonic Apprentice ready to begin his journey. Wearing his apron and holding mallet and chisel in hand, he symbolizes the beginning of knowledge, curiosity, and the courage of one who begins to work upon his own inner stone.

A card that speaks of learning, transformation, and new beginnings.

Do Skulls Belong in Freemasonry?

Before becoming a Freemason, I was uncomfortable with skull imagery.
To me, it felt dark, something associated only with sinister groups or fear.

But Freemasonry teaches through symbolism and allegory, and once I understood the meaning of the skull, my perspective changed completely.

The skull is not a symbol of death worship.
It is a reminder of mortality.

It teaches us that this physical body is temporary, and that our time here matters. It urges us to live uprightly, to improve ourselves, and to remember that one day we will lay aside the material world.

When the light departs the confines of the mortal cage, the spirit returns to its Creator, to stand humbly before Him, seeking life eternal.

In Freemasonry, the skull is not about fear.
It is about reflection, humility, and hope.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Fake “Grand Lodge” Pages ⚠️

Brethren and friends, please be aware that fake social media pages are impersonating legitimate Masonic Grand Lodges to mislead and scam people.

These pages often:
• Use official-sounding names like “Grand Lodge
of ___”
• Steal logos, seals, or historic images
• Post sensational or false claims about
Freemasonry
• Include WhatsApp links or direct messages
asking you to contact them privately

🚩 Red flags to watch for:
• Claims of secret access, exclusive clubs, or
special privileges
• Requests to move conversations to WhatsApp
or private messaging apps
• Requests for money, “fees,” or personal
information
• Poor grammar, misinformation, or content that
doesn’t align with how legitimate Grand Lodges
communicate

✅ What to do instead:
• Verify Grand Lodge pages through official
websites or known lodge communications
• Remember: Legitimate Grand Lodges do NOT
recruit! Not on WhatsApp. Not on Facebook
DMs, or secret offers.
• Report fake pages directly on the platform
• Warn others so they don’t fall victim

Freemasonry is built on truth, integrity, and transparency—not secrecy-for-sale or online gimmicks.

Please share this warning to help protect others.

In 1941, an estimated 80,000 people attended the Grand Anti-Masonic Exhibition in N**i-controlled Serbia. The event featured propaganda films, along with hundreds of posters and brochures claiming to expose a supposed “Judeo-Masonic conspiracy” for world domination. Pictured here is a 1935 N**i propaganda poster linking Freemasonry to the alleged goal of global revolution.

During World War II, such propaganda was a powerful tool of the N**i regime and was just one of many conspiracies that placed Freemasonry in the crosshairs.

This year’s International Conference on Freemasonry, coming March 14 to UC Berkeley, will explore alleged Masonic plots throughout history—and the cultural ephemera that fueled them.

Why is there a Masonic Avenue in the town of Albany despite no lodge ever meeting there when the street was named? For years, it’s been a quiet Bay Area mystery.

The name dates back to 1908, just after the San Francisco earthquake, when Albany was rapidly developed for displaced residents. While there was no Masonic temple nearby, clues point to the people shaping the neighborhood itself.

One likely influence: Archibald C. Kains, a prominent developer, the first governor of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco—and a devoted Freemason. While there’s no definitive proof, the connection offers a compelling—and very Masonic—educated guess. Sometimes, the Craft leaves its mark in unexpected places.

Since it’s that time of year, a friendly reminder that the voice behind “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Silver & Gold,” and “Holly, Jolly Christmas” belonged to proud Mason Burl Ives. The Grammy-winning balladeer and film and television actor was raised in Magnolia Lodge No. 242 in Santa Barbara in 1976.
