Hello fellow grads!

Don't forget to come to our reading group tomorrow! From 3-4pm we will meet in the TA offices (building 20, room 133) to discuss two short stories: Philip Roth's "Defender of the Faith" and British Nathalie Gordimer's "The Moment Before the Gun Went Off."

You can find Roth's text here:

Hello everyone!

Tomorrow night we will meet in the parking lot of Rite Aid/Yanagi's sushi on Marsh Street directly after the new student orientation (around 6:15pm). It is a bit of a walk, but downtown is so crazy on Thursday nights and it will be good for us to have a solid central location.

See you then! Let me know if you have any questions. :)

A beautiful novel.

A beautiful novel.

According to the doodle, it looks like the best time for us to meet for the spring quarter notes-sharing meeting is this Wednesday, from 2:30-3:30 (right after Brenda’s Early Start meeting). Cait and Carly will present on African American lit, I will present on Restoration/18th Century lit, and we still need someone to present on Modern Poetry. Please let me know if you can do it! Each person will have 15-20 minutes to knock out an entire quarter’s worth of material – good luck!

If you cannot make it to this meeting, please email me your availability for the regular summer reading groups! We will start our meetings sometime next week, probably in the evening.

Thank you!

Alright everyone. The trailer is here. What do we think?

From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby. The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has n...
