Texas State Universitys chapter proudly participated in the Concrete Canoe Competition at the 2026 ASCE Frontier Student Symposium hosted by Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.

This two-semester-long challenge requires students to design, analyze, and construct a functional concrete canoe, incorporating structural analysis, hull design, and the development of a lightweight concrete mix capable of floating and performing competitively on the water.

Also at this year’s symposium, Dr. Yongtao D**g was recognized as the recipient of the ASCE Texas Section Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award because Dr. D**g has demonstrated exceptional leadership, mentorship and support of the TXST ASCE Student Chapter. In addition to a cash prize to both Dr. D**g and the TXST ASCE Student Chapter, Dr. D**g is also automatically nominated for the ASCE Global Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award.
