1. What is your best memory from your college experience?
University has been such a whirlwind of adventures—banter with my professors, forming friendships with people from all walks of life, learning in ways I never expected, attending shows with my incredibly talented peers, experiencing inspiring guest lecturers, and going on field trips filled with laughter (and usually coming home with some kind of souvenir). I’ve loved finding hidden nooks in the extension library and getting into thoughtful debates that continue long after class ends.
Two memories that stand out the most are the studio workshop with Professor L. Foster and the LA studio field trip with Professor N. diBenedetto (along with pretty much all the field trips from her classes).
2. What is something you will miss most about college?
I am so grateful for all the wisdom and skills my professors have passed on to me—I will absolutely miss their guidance and expertise. I’ll also miss the camaraderie of university life: being surrounded by so many different personalities, backgrounds, and perspectives.
And I’ll definitely feel the loss of the incredible camera and video equipment at the Arts Checkout (and the lovely humans that work there)— like having an all-access pass to a Michelin-star kitchen and then being sent back to instant noodles.
3. What are your plans for the future after graduating?
After graduation, I plan on catching up on sleep and finally finishing all the shows I’ve put off. Once I’ve resurfaced from my gremlin era and rejoined society, I hope to use all the skills and knowledge I’ve gained to fully tap into my love of art—painting, photographing, designing and filming as much as I can.
I want to really immerse myself in creating, exploring new ideas, supporting fellow artists and continuing to grow as an artist in whatever direction feels right.
