Meet this week’s , Kateryna Sison! She graduated from CSUSM in 2010 with her bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Q: What have you been up to since graduation?
A: “My path since CSUSM has connected three interests: business, human behavior, and understanding what makes work better. I graduated with honors in Business Administration in 2010 and have built approximately 15 years of professional experience across account management, benefits administration, and business operations. Working through complex processes and client needs sparked a deeper interest in the people behind business decisions—how they communicate, adapt to change, and succeed within organizations. To expand my analytical skills, I completed a certificate in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics through UC San Diego Extension. I am now pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Harvard University (HES), bringing my practical business experience into the study of human behavior and organizational effectiveness. I also created CleverKat, a website where I explore psychology, working life, and thoughtful personal growth through original articles and reading guides. It is a space to translate what I am learning into ideas people can use in their careers and everyday lives. I am proud that this journey began at CSUSM. I would welcome connections with fellow Cougars working in business strategy, operations, people analytics, and organizational development, as well as alumni interested in exchanging ideas or collaborating.”
Q: What experience from your time at CSUSM has made a lasting impact on your life?
A: "One lesson I carry from CSUSM is that a business problem deserves more than one perspective. Numbers matter, but so do the people making decisions, carrying out processes, and experiencing the results. That perspective has become more meaningful throughout my career. When something is not working, I want to understand why: Are expectations clear? Does the process make sense? Do people have the information and support they need? Graduating with honors was an accomplishment I was proud of, but continuing to build on that foundation has been equally rewarding. My education did not end in 2010. It led me toward data analytics, graduate study in psychology, and creating a space to share what I am learning through CleverKat. For me, being a lifelong learner means staying willing to ask better questions—and allowing the answers to shape what comes next."
