During the hiring process, law enforcement agencies evaluate candidates across POST Job Dimensions such as Moral Character, Work Habits, Dependability, and Communication Skills.

One of the most critical of these dimensions is Handling Stress and Adversity. Stress tolerance includes maintaining composure, thinking clearly, and acting effectively under pressure.

Early in the academy, recruits establish an initial foundation in critical thinking and strategic communication. As training progresses, these core skills are continuously built upon and enhanced through realistic, scenario-based training and practical exercises.

Recruits get repeated opportunities to manage realistic stress, practice sound judgment, and develop the split-second decision-making required for the complex challenges faced in the field.

Do not just apply. Prepare. Perform. Stand out. Become the Candidate Agencies Want to Hire.

Smaller classes mean more than knowing everyone’s name. They mean more direct interaction with instructors, more practical repetitions during skills training, and immediate feedback directly to each recruit when it matters most.

At the Palomar College Police Academy, you aren’t just a number in a crowded auditorium. Smaller class sizes give you room to ask questions and ensure comprehension of the material, while skills training delivers the extra reps needed to correct mistakes, build competence, and demonstrate continuous improvement.

More reps. More training. More confidence. Become the Candidate Agencies Want to Hire.
