Top 3 in the nation!

National Student Advertising Competition team placed third nationally at the American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition Finals after developing a fully integrated campaign for the NFL youth programs.

Out of 103 universities nationwide, our interdisciplinary team of advertising, communication design, and marketing students earned a national top-three finish and took home the Lumie Award for excellence in concept testing and research innovation.

This marks Texas State’s fourth top-three national finish since 2020, including a national championship in 2025.

Congratulations to our students, faculty advisors, and everyone who contributed to another remarkable year for the NSAC program!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the 2026 SJMC Awards Ceremony!

On May 5, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication gathered in the LBJ Ballroom to recognize the students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and supporters who make SJMC stronger.

We were honored to welcome Texas State University President Kelly Damphousse, who joined us in celebrating our honorees and recognizing the work happening across our school.

The afternoon featured the Michael S. “Mike” George Lecture with Dr. Carrie Angell, faculty and staff recognitions, honor society inductions, Top Student Award recipients, student media honors, Bateman and NSAC achievements, and student leadership acknowledgments.

Congratulations to every honoree, inductee, student leader, faculty member, and team recognized. Your work, creativity, and dedication continue to shape the future of media and communication at Texas State.
