We look forward to welcoming renowned soprano Jane Eaglen to TXST for our 2025–2026 Guest Artist Residency on Thursday, April 16, and Friday, April 17. During her two days on campus, she will present a masterclass, a guest artist talk, and more.

Jane Eaglen is an English dramatic soprano particularly known for her interpretations of the works of Richard Wagner and the title roles in Bellini's Norma and Puccini's Turandot. Her career at the Metropolitan Opera started with her Brünnhilde in the Ring Cycle. Eaglen has performed at all major houses globally such as La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera House and many others. She currently resides in Boston, MA as a voice teacher at the New England Conservatory. She is the President and founder of the Boston Wagner Society. Eaglen spends her summers instructing at the Merola Opera Program (San Francisco Opera) for emerging artists. Every year she judges several voice competitions, including the Laffont-Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to the team!

Prof. Ryan Gillam received a BFA in Production Design from Savannah College of Art and Design and an MA in Strategic Communication from East Texas Baptist University.

He has provided scenic, lighting, and props designs for productions of Androcles and the Lion, The Little Prince, A Grand Night for Singing, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Into the Woods, among others.

Prior to joining the TXST School of Music, Prof. Gillam served as Director of Operations / Technical Director of the Performing Arts Center at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Technical Director at East Texas Baptist University, and Technical Director at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Prof. Frances Rabalais—opera director, intimacy and fight specialist, and educator—will guest direct TXST Opera Theater’s production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto in Fall 2025.

She is a Certified Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors in three weapons and theatrical fi****ms. The majority of her formal training in intimacy work is through Intimacy Directors & Choreographers.

Prof. Rabalais will make her film directing debut in Penelope, based on the art song of the same name by Cecilia Livingston, which will premiere in New York in 2025. She also will direct a new production of Maria de Buenos Aires, music by Astor Piazzolla and libretto by Horacio Ferrer, with Madison Opera.
