April 30 ILS Welcomes Novella Carpenter

Journalist and urban farmer speaks as part of the 2014 Institute for Leadership Studies (ILS) Spring Leadership Lecture Series. Carpenter will appear at the free event in conversation with KQED “Forum” host Michael Krasny to discuss Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer. It reflects on her experiences creating a garden in a run-down neighborhood a mile from downtown Oakland. Doors open in Angelico Hall at 6 p.m. The program starts at 7 p.m.

Dominican University's belt just loosened a few notches.The private college announced Wednesday it will receive $25 million in gifted money, due to an effort spearheaded by board chairman Andy Barowsky that is aimed at improving just about every component of the San Rafael institution.

Former Lady Penguins basketball player Tammy Brawner, who graduated from Dominican in 2011 with an MBA in Global Management, is featured in the San Francisco Chronicle as she is in the midst of her second season playing with the Harlem Globetrotters.
