Hey CMS family, come celebrate the first ever print copy of The Dominican Beat in partnership with Tuxedo Literature and Arts magazine - tomorrow, noon in front of Calereuga. We'll be live on Penguin Radio, with digital journalism students talking about the stories they covered and English students talking about the thrill of creative writing. Free pizza, too! Hope to see you there!😎 Ashley Moreda is our editor, Isabel Paner did layout and design with Cat Dang, Lily Batchelor is our executive producer for the radio show, with Brandon Cadiz and Forest Hunter helping to produce. Please share and spread the word!

FYI:

November 16, 2017

The San Francisco Public Relations Round Table
is accepting applications for the
2017-18 Scholarship Program
through December 31, 2017.

Meet the 2016-17 scholarship winners here.

Please help us spread the word and encourage students enrolled in your program to apply to the Scholarship Program sponsored by the San Francisco Public Relations Round Table (SFPRRT).
NOTE: Applications are due by 5 p.m. on December 31, 2017.

We will consider both full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students studying public relations and related fields, including marketing, communications and journalism. We are particularly interested in rewarding students who are using their public relations, writing and social media skills to benefit the public and worthy causes. The scholarships are awarded on a one-time basis and are unrestricted in their use, with the number of scholarships granted and the amounts determined by the SFPRRT Board based on the size and quality of the applicant pool and available funds. In recent years, individual student grants have been in the $3,000 range.

To be considered for a SFPRRT 2017-18 scholarship, candidates should:
Be on a degree course in a communications-related field and currently attending a four-year college or university in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area or a school within 100 miles of Downtown San Francisco.
Have sophomore or higher standing. Graduate students in relevant disciplines are also eligible.
Have taken or be taking at least two public relations, journalism or communications courses.
Have demonstrated an interest in PR or communications through such related activities as internships, jobs, class projects, clubs/societies or volunteering.
Be endorsed by school professors (at least one letter of recommendation is required).
Have a minimum of a 3.5 grade-point average at their current school, verified by a copy of a transcript. An unofficial copy is acceptable.
We invite you to share this information with your students and encourage them to apply before December 31, 2017. Our committee will select finalists and conduct interviews in February/March of 2018. Scholarship recipients will be honored at a luncheon in San Francisco in April or May of 2018; each winner is encouraged to bring his or her academic adviser to the lunch.

Here is the link to the online application form (or use the "APPLY NOW" button below). A print-ready flyer advertising the scholarship program for your communal bulletin board is available here.

We would appreciate your sharing these materials via email with the students and professors in your program. Thank you in advance for your help in identifying scholarship candidates. We look forward to meeting your students!

Sincerely,
Brenda Kahn, Scholarship Chair
