Sigma Theta Tau Rho Alpha is supporting Center for Domestic Peace, bringing youth and young adult awareness to dating abuse. The donations made at our bakesale will help support the cause. Come learn about ways to detect if you may be experience abuse in your relationship, get some tips on how to talk to your roommates or friends about dating violence, and express yourself through writing messages about your experience with abuse.

1 out of 3 people are effected by domestic abuse across America. This means that out of 22,000 students at DU, 700 students may be effected by this problem. Come see the "FIELD OF HEARTS" by the Caleruga Lawn after sundown. We will have 700 glowing hearts that represent your messages :)

Dating abuse is something that impacts many young adults in the US, including students at Dominican University. In fact, females ages 16-24 are more vulnerable to intimate partner violence than any other age group– at a rate almost triple the national average (U.S. Department of Justice). Crazy, huh?

As such, we want to raise awareness about this issue on Dominican’s campus. February is dating abuse awareness month and the week of Valentine’s Day is RESPECT Week, a time to do just that. Center for Domestic Peace (in San Rafael), STT- Rho Alpha, and Dominican are teaming up to plan some activities during RESPECT week to let people know what the warning signs of dating abuse are and how to get help if you or someone you know is experiencing it. Look out for more information on these events to come.
