Focusing on firm foundations for future educators. That's the mission of the Sloan Scholars Program of the Lee County Education Foundation. The Sloan Scholars Program applications are now available to seniors who plan to pursue a degree in education and provides up to $36,000 in scholarships if a student agrees to return and teach in Lee County Schools after graduation.

This incredible opportunity not only supports students financially but also strengthens our community by bringing passionate, homegrown teachers back to our classrooms.

We had a huge turnout last night for the LocalLee TA-to-Teacher Pathway interest meeting!

This unique partnership with Lee County Schools, Central Carolina Community College, and East Carolina University is helping LCS' teacher assistants take their next step toward becoming certified teachers- while continuing their important work in our schools.

Go from teacher assistant to teacher with LocalLee!

Through LocalLee, we’re building multiple pathways for students and current employees to become licensed teachers. This TA-to-Teacher program is just one part of our broader efforts to grow homegrown educators in Lee County.

A remarkable partnership between Lee County Schools, Central Carolina Community College, and East Carolina University makes this TA-to-Teacher pathway possible while working as a TA for LCS.

If this pathway interests you, please join us for next week's informational session! Details below:

at The Moore Center (2101 Nash Street, Sanford, NC)

This information session is open to:
- Current LCS employees
- Community members interested in becoming a Teacher Assistant and pursuing licensure
- High school seniors considering teaching as a career

Representatives from Lee County Schools, Central Carolina Community College, East Carolina University, and the Lee County Education Foundation will be on hand to answer questions, review course plans, timelines, and financial aid. We'll even look at transcripts on-site!

Go from TA to Teacher with Lee County Schools! We are committed to growing our employees and through LocalLEE - an initiative to provide pathways for students and current employees to become licensed teachers - we invite all classified employees interested in teaching to take their first step toward licensure with us on Thursday, September 25 at 6:00 PM at the Moore Center!

Not a current LCS employee? You’re welcome, too! Come learn how to join LCS as a Teacher Assistant and pursue our TA-to-Teacher Pathway to earn your license and teach in Lee County.

High school seniors and anyone interested in the program are also welcome to attend.

Representatives from Lee County Schools, Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), East Carolina University (ECU), and the Lee County Education Foundation will be on hand to answer questions about admissions/registration, course plans, timelines, and financial aid. We were excited to join the conversation as leaders from Lee County Schools and Central Carolina Community College hammered out the final details of an exciting opportunity for LCS’ staff looking for a teacher education pathway.
