Denim Day is in TWO days, but do you know why DENIM is used to raise awareness against sexual assault?

From a harmful court ruling to a global movement, Denim Day exists because survivors were blamed instead of supported. No matter what somebody wears, consent can only be present when it is unambiguous, affirmative, and everyone is conscious and aware at each step of the process. We wear denim to challenge harmful narratives and demonstrate to survivors that we care.

Stop by our Denim Day tabling this Wednesday to connect with resources and be part of the conversation!

Denim Day is a global call to challenge victim-blaming and support survivors of sexual assault. This year, we’re inviting the UCSB community to wear denim with a purpose, support survivors, and be part of the active bystander movement.

Join us at the Denim Day Tabling Fair to connect with campus & Isla Vista orgs, learn about ways we support survivors, and get involved in prevention work. We’ll have fun educational activities, face painting, screen printing, goodie bags, free swag, and yes… ways to earn some treats + deals at participating restaurants in IV 👀

Wear denim, bring a friend, and be part of the community 💙

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) marks 25 years of centering survivors and advancing awareness and prevention of sexual violence, harassment, and abuse.

Throughout April, join CARE in taking action- whether that’s attending an event, stopping by our table, challenging victim-blaming, or practicing bystander intervention. For our UCSB community, SAAM is an opportunity to learn how we can intervene when harm is occurring and support survivors with care and compassion.

All month long, we will be hosting events to deepen these conversations and build practical skills to carry these conversations with your community. Swipe to see what’s happening in Weeks 1 & 2, and check back in throughout the month to stay updated with this month’s events 🩵
