This certainly has been a very different period in time and one day we will get to a new kind of normal. With hope and everyone doing their part we will get there. We are all in this together.
With that, there are silver linings each and every day and a new lens to look through. At our Center Lab School one of the most important life lessons during the pandemic situation has been the gift of "presence" and valuing our time with each other. It is this presence with children, families, educators, and students worldwide that we celebrate.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Week of the Young Child (WOYC) this year is April 10-16.
Every year is special but this NAEYC is celebrating the 50th anniversary of WOYC! (The following provides a short excerpt from www.naeyc.org to provide more information about WOYC).
The WOYC is an annual celebration sponsored by the NAEYC, the world's largest early childhood education association, with nearly 60,000 members and a network of 52 Affiliates.
The purpose of WOYC is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
NAEYC first established the WOYC in 1971, recognizing that the early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the foundation for children's success in school and later life. The WOYC is a time to plan how we - as citizens of a community, of a state, and of a nation - will meet the needs of all children and families.
This week we will provide you with inspirational articles for families. Please share these resources with other friends and families. Wishing you a marvelous Monday!
