Last Friday, College of the Canyons was honored to host a Congressional Field Hearing for the first time in the college's history. The hearing, held by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, examined the growing need for a skilled workforce to support America's defense industrial base and advanced technology sectors.

Congressional members and industry leaders gathered to discuss workforce development challenges and opportunities, including how educational institutions can help meet increasing demand for highly trained professionals.

Prior to the hearing, members of Congress and witnesses toured COC's welding program and network technologies program, where they learned how the college partners with local industry to expand access to advanced technology training and prepare students for in-demand careers.

We are proud to be part of the conversation shaping the future workforce and helping students build the skills needed to support our region and nation.
