UC Santa Cruz Cal Teach

UC Santa Cruz Cal Teach Cal Teach addresses the lack of qualified Math & Science teachers in California by recruiting STEM undergrads, giving them internships in local schools.

Cal Teach embodies UC Santa Cruz’s commitment to improving K-12 science and math education. In California, only 35% of high school graduates are prepared for college-level science classes. Cal Teach addresses this problem by placing university science, math, and engineering majors in K-12 classrooms and helps many of these Cal Teach interns go on to become teachers. As a result, school children benefit from innovative and engaged teachers who are committed to meeting their educational needs.

For anyone working with current classroom teachers of math (must be at least 50% classroom based vs coach, admin, etc) the Teacher Leadership Program of the Park City Math Institute has extended applications for this summer's institute. Rather than a single 3-week program, we will be conducting three 1-week programs, and folks may apply for one, two or all three weeks, each of which will engage with a distinct piece of mathematics and aspect of pedagogy. More information (including the fact that it is completely free!) and application can be found at the Institute for Advanced Study's website (yes, IAS is our institutional home) https://www.ias.edu/pcmi/programs/pcmi-2021-teacher-leadership-program
Applications have been extended through the end of April, or until we hit capacity, whichever comes first.
