The Film School at Santa Fe University of Art and Design

The Film School at Santa Fe University of Art and Design The page for The Film School at Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD). The Film School (and SFUAD) closed in June 2018.

Students of The Film School at Santa Fe University of Art and Design are active members of a creative community. Either they are knee deep in all aspects of Film production (digital, directing, screenwriting, animation, and much more), or they are analyzing and learning from films. They pull knowledge from the new and the classic, the innovative and the unique. The campus was the first in the nati

on to host a professional film studio, our own Garson Studios. This provides a unique opportunity for students to not only have access to professional level sets, but also to intern on projects and gain real world experience while making important contacts for their future. Some notable films include: "True Grit," "Legion," "No Country for Old Men," and many others. Additionally, the TV series LONGMIRE has occupied Garson sound stages for the past 5 years.

With all seniors now graduated and final grades issued, The Film School at Santa Fe University of Art and Design is calling it a wrap -- and this page will go dormant. The page will remain as an archive of the last decade of amazing projects and initiatives -- as students followed their dreams, earned 4-year degrees, and began pursuing their careers (sometimes in media, sometimes in other directions).

We're proud of all the students, staff and faculty who were part of The Film School, and wish them all the best in the years ahead. *Au revoir*.

What will ever happen to Film School faculty, now that The Film School is closing its doors? (A lot, actually)

* Contributing faculty member Shelene Bridge is currently in production on a documentary about illegal trash dumping in New Mexico.
* Contributing faculty member Lisa Lucas is currently pitching 3 TV series, shopping/creative financing a feature screenplay, producing/acting in/writing several short films, launching a film criticism podcast, and writing 2 e-books while still working at Filmnewmexico (whew, now we're tired).
* Contributing faculty member Diana DeAguinaga is shooting a feature film directed by former contributing faculty member Peter Kershaw in late 2018.
* Contributing faculty member Ed Radtke has several film projects in development.
* Contributing faculty member Bevin Carnes is developing UpStream Media as a one-stop shop for low-budget filmmakers.
* Professor Terry Borst is writing and executive producing "2-Way", an independent feature film slated for production in late 2018; other projects are in the works.
* Film Chair and Associate Dean Liam Lockhart is finalizing post-production on Shoot The Stars! Season 6's production of "Final Cutz" (which he wrote and directed), after premiering a rough cut at The Screen during Finals week.

All of these film professionals are committed to filmmaking in New Mexico, and are proud of The Film School's legacy this past decade.

Whatever happened to Film School alums (and fellow travelers)? (A continuing series.)

Though SFUAD alum Tallis Rose '15 majored in Performing Arts, not Film, she was frequently featured as voiceover talent in Film School promos, and also performed in a number of student films. Now she's debuting as a stage director at The Santa Fe Playhouse, and received a nice writeup in the Santa Fe Reporter. As the article notes, you have one more weekend to check out the play.

Debut director Tallis Rose has taken the seminal ‘Talking With…’ and set it in a circus; as a group of sideshow freaks, to be precise.
