"It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since that Tuesday morning in September 2001 when planes struck the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and crashed near Shanksville, PA. The impact of that day continues to be felt in families and communities across the country and beyond. Words fail to properly convey the magnitude of the loss or the courage of those who responded that day and in the weeks and months that followed. To all those whose lives were impacted, our hearts go out to you, still. To all those who answered the call of service, then and now, thank you."

After classroom prep and a rock-climbing expedition last week, our Wilderness Recreation Leadership students began their Fall 2026 Practicum today. The immersive backcountry experience started this morning and includes a 12-day paddle in the St. Regis Canoe Area, to be followed by backpacking in the Eastern High Peaks. Good luck to our students! We’re excited to welcome students back for the Fall 2026 semester, with plenty of positive momentum across our campuses — including strong interest in several academic programs, more than 80 students participating in our new ASAP student success program, growing workforce training opportunities, nearly full residence halls, and full rosters for Saints men’s and women’s soccer. 🎓⚽

🎉 Welcome to our newest members of the North Country Community College Board of Trustees!

Jessica Kemp and Jordanna Mallach, front row from left, were sworn in at the Board’s Aug. 25 meeting after being appointed by Gov. Kathy Hochul to fill two vacant seats.

Jordanna, the Town of Harrietstown Supervisor, brings extensive experience in public service, leadership and community engagement.

Jessica is both a familiar face and a proud North Country alumna. A graduate of the college’s Business Administration program, she previously served on the Board as Student Trustee from 2020-2022 and now brings professional experience in accounting and financial management.

Please join us in welcoming Jordanna and welcoming Jessica back to the North Country family! 👏

The college will host a continuing education opportunity for massage therapists, as well as physical and occupational therapists and other healthcare providers, on Oct. 16-17 on our Saranac Lake campus. As part of this Healwell training, instructor and scar tissue expert Cathy Ryan takes participants through the science of scar tissue formation and the impact of manual therapy on scar tissue.
