Please enjoy our latest blog post on longtime student Jonathan N. If you've ever watched the CAA cheer team, you've probably seen Jonathan there front and center with a smile that lights up the room. He is a stellar performer and wonderful student ambassador for our school. According to Jonathan, CAA has given him a community that has helped push him to grow and develop new goals.

After finishing the special education programs in high school, Jonathan Nguyen was able to find a job and fill his time working. And he was content doing so, until he realized that he wanted to push himself and that he was not done learning.

Check out this wonderful article from the Los G*tan News highlighting the local Special Needs Awareness Program (SNAP) which helps improve safety for individuals on the spectrum. “I can’t find them anywhere.” A chill down the spine. A spike of adrenaline. Heart stopping, dropping—then racing. Panic spreads like contagion. When a loved one with autism has gone missing, time freezes. For those with autism spectrum disorder, a simple wander can be dangerous. And Los G*t...

Please enjoy our latest blog post, written by CAA volunteer Nina, about student Samuel H. At CAA, Samuel has truly found a place where he can continue grow creatively. Samuel is enrolled in videography, acting, dance and CAA's Go Green Climate Action Class. He has also recently discovered a budding interest in bodybuilding and nutrition. Whether he is behind the camera, performing, or focusing on his health and fitness goals, CAA is constantly offering new opportunities for Samuel to learn and grow.

Did you know that adults with IDD are 9 times more likely to report increased rates of anxiety, depression, and isolation? May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so we asked some College of Adaptive Arts students to share a few of the ways they take care of their own mental health and well-being.

📣 Attention all recurring donors!

At the end of the month, CAA will be switching its donation platforms from Classy/GoFundMe to GiveButter. Anyone who is a current recurring donor will need to sign up through GiveButter in order to continue their monthly giving. All existing accounts on GoFundMe will be closed out June 1, so you will not be double charged. Thank you for giving the gift of lifelong education to our incredible CAA students!
