UWM Field Station The UWM Field Station is located in Saukville, WI and has nearly 2000 acres of undisturbed, high-quality natural communities available for educational use.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Field Station is located in Saukville, Wisconsin and has nearly 2000 acres of undisturbed, high-quality natural communities available for teaching and research. These include the Cedarburg Bog State Natural Area, which contains one of the largest and most biologically interesting wetlands in southern Wisconsin, the Sapa Bog, an acidic black spruce bog, and an

old growth beech-maple forest. In addition to the Cedarburg Bog Unit, the Field Station manages five outlying properties (including Neda Mine and Benedict Prairie) and the Downer Woods on the UWM campus. The Field Station is used by researchers from various disciplines such as plant and animal ecology, evolutionary biology, ethology, taxonomy, geology, and climatology. Research use is on a year-round basis and the Station's staff can provide support for research which requires frequent monitoring. UWM Saukville Field Station Director, Paul Engevold was recognized at the Fall Awards Ceremony for his work as manager of the UWM Greenhouse.

More than two dozen people were honored for their many years of service to UW-Milwaukee at the annual Fall Awards ceremony Wednesday at the Zelazo Center.

UWM Field Station is hosting a Bog Walk and Haunted Hike in honor of the Cedarburg Bog's National Natural Landmark 50th anniversary!

Join us in celebrating the beauty of the bog on October 28th. Bog walks will take place from 2 - 4 PM followed by a Bonfire and Haunted Hikes from 5 - 8 PM.

The Land Restoration School (LRS) has been in residence at the UWM Saukville Field Station at the Cedarburg Bog since June, and recently completed their final presentations. Their 12-week program is a collaborative learning and transformative, paid work experience, teaching the principles, practice and planning of ecological restoration for degraded lands — a total educational immersion in land restoration. Winter Hike into the Cedarburg Bog
Sunday, February 5, 1:30 – 4:30 PM
Come for the UWM Field Station and the Friends of the Cedarburg Bog annual Winter Hike into the heart of the Cedarburg Bog. Jim Reinartz, president of the Friends of the Cedarburg Bog will lead the way. Register online at https://bogfriends.org/events/
The hike will be followed by a bonfire and hot cocoa and cider at the UWM Field Station. $5 donation is appreciated. No pets allowed.
