Arts Center at Lake Superior State University A venue for the celebration and integration of the fine and performing arts Welcome.

The Arts Center at Lake Superior State University is home to great live performances from an array of visiting artists, a variety of speakers addressing social, cultural and intellectual concerns, and the focal point for artistic enrichment on campus. Importantly, it also serves as the sole, dedicated space for the training of Lake State's theatre, dance, music and art students - as well as providing an incredibly beautiful space to share that work with the campus community and beyond. The Arts Center is the primary source for the celebration and integration of the fine and performing arts into the lives of our students, the people of the EUP, and Canada.

Hello Sault Ste. Marie!

In between the world-renowned and award-winning guests/artists that we bring here, we also like to celebrate the talents of our community members and students! Don't believe me? Come on by November 11th-14th to see LSSU's Fall theatrical production of 'Mauritius!'

Written by Theresa Rebeck, 'Mauritius' follows half-sisters Jackie and Mary after they inherit a rare stamp collection from Mary's grandfather. They clash, competing for the millions of dollars the collection is worth. Subsequently, an escapade involving theft, greed, and family baggage ensues.

Featuring a cast comprised of LSSU students, faculty, and community members alike - directed by our very own Arts Center Director and Assistant Professor Adam St. John - 'Mauritius' is an event you will not want to miss! Get your tickets now: https://shorturl.at/iedLX

Hello Sault Ste. Marie!

We know that music and theatre have deep roots in history and tradition, but did you know mime has a rich history of its own? With roots in the theatres of ancient Greece and Rome, mime has evolved into a sophisticated art of movement, expression, and storytelling.

In the 20th century, artists like Étienne Decroux helped shape modern mime, while his student Marcel Marceau brought the art form to audiences around the world through his iconic character, Bip.

Now, Bill Bowers, who studied under Marceau, carries that tradition forward in It Goes Without Saying. Through movement, humor, storytelling, and silence, Bowers shares the remarkable story of his life, from growing up in Montana to performing across the country and on Broadway.

Come catch 'Under A Montana Moon' this Friday at 11am for free, and 'It Goes Without Saying!' at 7pm! Don't miss out, and get your tickets here: https://shorturl.at/zobPJ

Hello Sault Ste. Marie!

This week, we have two performances by mime artist Bill Bowers to share with you! And what performances, they are! These are shows that have been shared around the country, and the reviews are raving!

Margo Jefferson of The New York Times says: "To watch Bill Bowers' collection of silent stories, Under a Montana Moon, was to see the technical elements of a style that brings Marcel Marceau readily to mind, joined to the American West--Mime can be wonderful--the air between him and us was his palette."

When asked about 'It Goes Without Saying', Colorado Springs Arts has this to say: "“Bowers is one of those bigger-than-life personalities whose aura you simply want to bask in: his energy seems boundless; his smile seems lit from within”.

Come catch 'Under A Montana Moon' this Friday at 11am for free, and 'It Goes Without Saying!' at 7pm! Don't miss out, and get your tickets here: https://shorturl.at/zobPJ
