South University, Savannah is proud to share that Jill G. Bugner, PT, DPT, Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor in our Physical Therapist Assistant Program, recently presented on behalf of her research team at the 2026 MidWest Interprofessional Conference and Simulation Summit at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN.

Her poster presentation highlighted collaborative research between the South University, Savannah PTA Program and the Georgia Southern University DPT Program. Their study, “A Retrospective Study of Intraprofessional Learning,” explored shared learning experiences between first‑year PTA and DPT students.

The research team included Dr. Bugner and Victoria Nash, PT, MEd of South University, Savannah, along with Sidney M. Stoddard, PT, DPT, EdD and James L. Karnes, PhD, PT of Georgia Southern University.

We are proud of this team’s commitment to advancing physical therapy education and interprofessional collaboration.

Back in April, our campus welcomed future students, families, and community members for an exciting Career & Education Expo and the energy was incredible.

Guests had the chance to explore our programs while meeting our dedicated faculty and seeing live demonstrations across several fields of study.

Visitors also enjoyed campus tours, fun swag, and even a few adorable puppies who stole the show. It was a fantastic day of learning, connection, and hands‑on experiences.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event such a success. We loved opening our doors and showcasing what makes South University, Savannah such a vibrant place to learn and grow.

From pharmacy technician… to PharmD… to pharmacy owner. 💊👏

Meet Dr. Jomarie Ortiz Rivera, a 2018 South University School of Pharmacy PharmD graduate who is now the owner and pharmacist in charge of Highway Pharmacy in Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

Her journey is a powerful reminder of what can happen when passion meets purpose. From co-authoring research and earning scholarships at South University to now leading patient-centered care in her community, Dr. Ortiz Rivera is making a real impact every single day.

She’s not only improving healthcare access through immunizations, counseling, and education, she’s also mentoring the next generation of pharmacy professionals and working toward expanding care to underserved communities across Puerto Rico.

This weekend, students and staff from South University, Savannah came together once again to show their support for Renegade Paws Rescue and their impact was incredible!

A group of 15 volunteers spent their Saturday morning grabbing a leash and giving rescue dogs a much‑needed break from their kennels. Each volunteer took a dog out for an hour‑long walk filled with fresh air, sniffing, socializing, and plenty of tail wags.

The weather was so beautiful that many volunteers stayed even longer to walk a second dog, helping a total of 24 dogs enjoy a morning of exercise and enrichment.

We’re proud of our Savannah community for continuing to show compassion, commitment, and heart. Thank you to everyone who came out to support Renegade Paws Rescue and make a difference for these deserving animals.
