From Clatskanie to Scappoose and everywhere in between, Columbia County is building something real.

The metal artwork featured on the Clatskanie Bikehub? Made by students. That's what happens when young people get real tools, real mentors, and real opportunities right here in their own backyard.

The Columbia Works Internship connects Columbia County high school students with paid, hands-on summer internships in advanced manufacturing, welding, machining, mechatronics, and more. It's not just about skills, it's about showing students they don't have to leave their community to build a future in it.

The region's workforce pipeline doesn't grow itself. It grows because industry partners, educators, and community members invest in what comes next.

Sometimes you walk outside and just have to stop for a second. 🌲

We are so lucky to call Columbia County home. Surrounded by forest, fresh air, and the kind of quiet that makes you remember why you show up every day — our training center is genuinely one of the most beautiful places to learn and work in the Pacific Northwest.
And we love sharing it.

If you've got students who are curious about advanced manufacturing, trades, or what a real-world training facility looks like — bring them by. Tours are open, welcoming, and a great way to spark something in a young person who didn't know this world existed.

Our final Fab Lab Maker Basics workshop of the season is Block Printing & Monotype — and we are going out with a bang! Come discover the beautiful art of linocut printmaking in this hands-on evening designed for makers of all skill levels. 🖨️✨

In this workshop you'll:
🪶 Learn the fundamentals of linocut printmaking
🔪 Develop carving skills with professional guidance
🎨 Experiment with different inking and printing techniques
🌿 Create prints to share with your community!

All materials provided — just bring your creativity and your good vibes. This is the kind of workshop you'll be talking about for a while. 💛

Inspiration is everywhere this AAPI Heritage Month! ✨

The tools, materials, and technologies that power modern manufacturing didn't appear out of thin air. They were dreamed up, engineered, and championed by people from every corner of the world, including AAPI inventors, innovators, and advocates whose work touches our daily lives in ways most of us never stop to think about. 🛠️

😷 Peter Tsai (he/him, 🇹🇼 Taiwan) - inventor of the N95 mask filter technology that protects workers on factory floors, in hospitals, and through wildfire seasons
💊 Min Chueh Chang (he/him, 🇨🇳 China) - co-developer of the first birth control pill, transforming healthcare and family planning worldwide
🌊 Dr. Isabella Abbott (she/her, 🌺 Hawai'i) - the first Native Hawaiian woman to earn a PhD in science, an award-winning marine botanist known as the "First Lady of Limu" for her groundbreaking study of marine algae and its ecological and cultural significance
🎤 ALOK (they/them, 🇮🇳 India) - internationally acclaimed poet, comedian, and public speaker whose work on gender, identity, and self-expression has reached audiences in over 40 countries
