Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute at ASU

Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute at ASU Entrepreneurship + Innovation at Arizona State University connects you to the information, resources and people that can help you turn your ideas into reality.

Arizona State University is known for its unique and effective approach to growing an entrepreneurial enterprise within a public university system. Here entrepreneurship is not confined to a single college or school, nor is it housed in one center or institute. Valuing entrepreneurship means that it is more than just a class or a program; it is a mindset that is woven into the fabric of the univer

sity, permeating every activity. ASU students, faculty and staff in every discipline and at every level work to identify local and global needs, articulate how to meet them and implement entrepreneurial solutions. Arizona State University-managed online communities, including pages, the ASU on Facebook application and ASU-run Facebook groups, are intended to inform users of ASU-related news and events, as well as foster discussion and a sense of community among users. The administrators of these communities reserve the right to remove any content posted that:

Five years of expanding opportunity through entrepreneurship and innovation. 🎉

As the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute’s fifth anniversary celebration comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the impact made possible by J. Orin Edson’s vision and the students, founders, faculty, mentors, educators, partners, and supporters who continue to bring that vision to life.

In FY2026 alone, Edson E+I reached more than 77,000 innovators, awarded more than $770,000 in non-dilutive funding, and provided more than 800 hours of mentorship across the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

These numbers represent more than milestones. Behind each one is someone advancing an idea, solving a problem, building a venture, or creating meaningful change.

As we celebrate how far we’ve come, we’re also looking ahead to the opportunities still to be created.

Read the latest Edson E+I blog to explore five years of impact and the vision for what comes next.

Want to grow as a leader? Start with the habits you practice every day.

Self-leadership doesn’t always look like a big leadership moment. It can be getting enough sleep, making time to move, eating well, or creating routines that help you stay on track.

Those everyday choices can influence how you handle pressure, make decisions, listen to others, and respond with empathy.

For students building their careers, ideas, and futures, learning to lead yourself is a great place to start.

What’s one habit that helps you show up at your best?

What if students walked into the classroom thinking, “I can make this better”?

Innovation doesn’t have to start with expensive technology or a fully equipped makerspace. It can start with something much simpler: curiosity.

When students are encouraged to notice problems, ask questions, test their ideas, learn from what doesn’t work, and try again, they begin to see themselves as creators — not just consumers.

As the new school year begins, there’s an opportunity to give students the space and confidence to explore what they can create.

Read “Back to School: Building a Creator Mindset in the Classroom” and discover ways educators and families can help young people turn curiosity into action through ASU Edson E+I.

Having an idea is one thing. Figuring out what to do next is another.

That’s where mentors like Jennifer Coyne come in. As an ASU Venture Mentor, Jennifer shares her experience with student entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the business-building process and develop compelling pitches.

Through Venture Devils, students don’t have to figure everything out on their own. They can connect with experienced entrepreneurs who offer feedback, share what they’ve learned, and help students keep moving forward.
