It is that time of year again! Please mark your calendars for this year’s World Refugee Day, taking place on Saturday, June 20 from 2-5pm. Please note that this event will take place at the Diocesan of Scranton Pastoral Center (330 Wyoming Ave, Scranton, PA 18503).
World Refugee Day honors the strength, resilience, and courage of millions of refugees throughout the world, and this event honors the rich cultural heritages of the refugee communities in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Join us for a fun-filled day cultural music and dance performances, games and activities for kids, and light refreshments. All are welcome to attend!
More than 25 community agencies are working together to put on the 2026 World Refugee Day Celebration, including Catholic Social Services of the Diocese of Scranton; The University of Scranton; City of Scranton; Diocese of Scranton; Scranton Area Multifaith Ministerium; Temple Hesed; Friends of the Poor & Catherine McAuley Center: A Partnership for the Common Good; Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church; Edward R. Leahy Jr., Clinic for the Uninsured; United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania; Ignatian Volunteer Corps; S.T.A.R.S. Program at Marywood University; Islamic Center of Scranton; Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit; Congolese Community of Scranton, Bhutanese Community of Scranton; Bhutanese Cultural Foundation Scranton Association; Saigon Corner Vietnamese Restaurant; WVIA; Intra-National Pharmacy; Pennsylvania Department of Education – Migrant Education Program; Church of Saint Gregory, Clarks Green; Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit; Maternal & Family Health Services; and NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania.
