NEIU Marywood Soar and Strive Programs

NEIU Marywood Soar and Strive Programs SOAR & STRIVE are unique programs hosted at Marywood University run by NEIU 19 that encourages independence! We are a public school program for student 18-21!

The first program of its kind, SOAR provides an age-appropriate environment in which high-school age students with Autism Spectrum Disorder can prepare for competitive employment and learn to live independently. STRIVE ahs joined our team in 2023 providing a Life Skills class which teaching Life Skills and Job Skills on Marywood's campus as well! SOAR & STRIVE are NEIU 19 Vocational Transition Pro

grams run by NEIU 19 in partnership with Marywood University. Students from the Marywood Education Department, The Business Department, The Communication Sciences Department, Art Therapy Department, Music Therapy Program and many more partner to create an authentic program to create responsible adults ready to work! Half of the day is spent in the classroom learning job and life skills from a certified Special Education teachers. The rest of the day is spent in vocational placements that pair students with Marywood staff. SOAR students work in housekeeping, food services, maintenance, the library, and many other locations around campus! While STRIVE participates in authentic, campus based working situations and a strong classroom transition programming.

SOAR & STRIVE had the AMAZING opportunity to tour Cooper's Seafood House with Mr. Paul Cooper, who shared valuable insight into the wide range of career opportunities the restaurant industry has to offer. Students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at their incredible, fun, and welcoming restaurant and kitchen—and to top it all off, they were treated to a five-star lunch!

We cannot say thank you enough to the Cooper family for hosting such a meaningful and memorable field trip for our students.

Today SOAR & STRIVE students had the pleasure of touring P & R Discount store and learned about jobs in a store. They hooked the kids up with so many fun treats and students got to shop around and learn at the same time! A special guest (Former SOAR and STRIVE grad Vito) joined us on the tour and showed us around! This store also employs a SOAR graduate! We had a great time thank you for the grand welcome P & R!!!

We wrapped up another amazing year with the students in the **SOAR & STRIVE programs at Marywood University, run by NEIU 19 💛🧘‍♀️

These incredible programs support young adults in building independence, and we’ve been so grateful to be part of their journey through yoga over the past several years.

Today marked our final session for the school year, and as always, we’re so proud of the effort, and positivity these students bring to every class. From movement to mindfulness, it’s been an honor to share this practice together. ✨

We’ll miss you all and can’t wait to be back next year! 🌿

Today SOAR, STRIVE & The Abington height VFAC program got to hear amazing speeches on the local services to help them transition after school! We heard from MyCil, Advocacy Alliance, Beacon, and OVR! We will now make this an annual event! Pictured is speaker Sara Wolff, who spoke on advocacy, PAABLE accounts and her personal story!
