We are incredibly proud to highlight two of our outstanding HUCOP students, Kaitlyn Honey and Kaitlyn Keiser, who are currently participating in the PCCA Pharmacy Student Boot Camp!

Going above and beyond the standard curriculum, these students are taking the initiative to pursue a deeper understanding of pharmaceutical compounding. Their dedication to expanding their skill sets and learning how to create personalized medications will make a huge difference for their future patients.

A massive THANK YOU to PCCA for putting on such a fantastic, hands-on event and for continually investing in the next generation of pharmacists. We are so grateful for the opportunities you provide our students to learn from the best in the industry!

We are thrilled to share that HUCOP student, Chidinma Otuechere, has secured a spot in the highly prestigious Johns Hopkins Pharmacy Summer Internship Program in Baltimore, Maryland!

During this competitive 9-week program, Chidinma will gain hands-on, high-level experience exploring how health systems operate, focusing on patient care, medication management, and outpatient pharmacy operations.

Better Together: HUCOP x CSD

What happens when future Pharmacists and Speech-Language Pathologists team up? Better patient care, one "thickened" sip at a time!

Our Harding University College of Pharmacy (HUCOP) and Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) students recently joined forces for a hands-on interprofessional experience focused on the essentials of Oral Care and Dysphagia management.

Healthcare doesn't happen in a vacuum. By working together, our students learned how their fields overlap to prevent complications like aspiration pneumonia and improve the quality of life for patients with swallowing difficulties.

The Art of Oral Care: Students experimented and critiqued the tolerability of different mouthwashes and avenues to manage dry mouth.

The Science of Thickness: PharmD and CSD students experimented with liquid thickeners, learning how to achieve the perfect consistency using the IDDSI Standards to ensure safe swallowing.

Medication Management: Discussing how certain medications can affect oral health and how that impacts the swallowing process.

I was privileged to attend the National Community Pharmacists Association Congressional Fly-In during our nation’s 250th anniversary year. It was great being with the Arkansas delegation, including pharmacy owner, Kristen Riddle, the NCPA President! I’m so proud of her leadership and willingness to serve our profession. Special thanks to Arkansas 4th District US Congressman Bruce Westerman, Chair of the House’s Committee on Natural Resources, for the nighttime tour of the Capitol and his inspiring message of how the resilience of individuals has resulted in the freedom we all share. Kudos go to John Vinson and Debra Wolfe of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association for organizing our efforts on the Hill!

Congratulations to Dr. Charlie Wright for being recognized with the Harding University Teacher Achievement Award for this academic year! Dr. Wright is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and has been with HUCOP since 2021. He is board certified in pharmacotherapy and will complete his Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership in May. He maintains a clinical practice site in ambulatory care at PrimeCARE Medical Clinic in Searcy, Arkansas, where he mentors fourth-year pharmacy students. Please join us in congratulating him on this honor!

Melissa Dinh (Class of '18) and Beau Ahrens (Class of '16) recently spent some time volunteering at the Arkansas Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic. They had a great time giving back to the community and even got to serve alongside several current HUCOP students. Thank you both for representing HUCOP so well!
