“My time at CSUMB was truly transformative and filled with warmth, growth, and a deep sense of belonging.” 🌎💙

Rimki Barua, an international student, found community through supportive professors and the many clubs and organizations on campus: “From the moment I arrived, I felt like part of a family.”

Now, she’s working under Optional Practical Training (OPT) as a Clinical and Administrative Assistant in the Emergency Department at Salinas Valley Health — a journey shaped by the mentorship, volunteering, and opportunities she experienced at CSUMB. 🩺✨

“Studying at CSUMB was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I will always be grateful for the community that nurtured my growth.” 🌿🏖️

Meet Thomas Scanlon, who spent spring 2025 studying abroad in Granada, Spain through CSUMB’s Education Abroad program. He calls it the best time of his life—immersing himself in a new culture, meeting incredible people, and traveling across Europe and Africa. With the support of CSUMB’s education abroad team, Thomas found the whole process smooth and life-changing. It’s an experience he’ll carry with him forever.

A powerful close to International Education Week.

Our International Coffee Hour featured a keynote address by Dr. Jeremias Zunguze, Associate Professor of Ethnic Studies, who explored “International Education in the Age of Globalization.”

Dr. Zunguze shared how global learning can both expand access to knowledge and challenge systems of inequality—inviting us to reimagine international education as a space for reflection, exchange, and transformation.

Following the keynote, a student panel offered personal perspectives on how international experiences have shaped their identities, learning, and sense of community. 🌎💬

🌍 International Education Week 2025 is almost here!

International Education Week (IEW) is a nationwide celebration recognizing the global impact of international education and cultural exchange. This year, NAFSA: Association of International Educators is supporting IEW by promoting opportunities to connect across cultures and share global perspectives.

At CSUMB, we’re excited to join the celebration with a full week of events highlighting diverse arts, cultures, and traditions from around the world. ✨
