Hey Redhawks! Summer is coming up fast, so we asked CCE's staff what's on their bucket list. Can you can figure out who each staff member based on their bucket list responses? Who wants to spend a night under the stars vs. next to the campfire? Who wants to take a walk along the water vs. watch the Blue Angels? Stay tuned for each bucket list and tell us who you think they belong to! Let us know in the comments or stop by the CCE office and grab a treat at the front desk when you have your answer ready. The person who gets the most matches could win a vintage CCE swag item!

The Student Experience at CCE centers around Community Engaged Learning (CEL), a process that connects concepts in the classroom to service and engagement experiences in the community. CCE works with instructors to identify community organizations where Seattle University students can be matched in either placement-based or project-based experiences.

SUYI turns 15 this year!! Launched in 2011, the Seattle University Youth Initiative (SUYI) unites the university with the City of Seattle, Seattle Housing Authority, Seattle Public Schools, dozens of community-based organizations, and hundreds of residents and creates a pre-k to career pathway of support for children and their families living in a two-square mile neighborhood adjacent to campus. SUYI unites the university and our local community in pursuit of a more just and humane world through our various programs and ongoing dedication to place-based community engagement.

CCE has some big goals! Our pathway to 2030 combines a series of goals and strategies that align with specific outcomes. Through our pillars of the Seattle University Youth Initiative (SUYI), Campus and Community Partnerships (C&CP), our CCE Operations and our efforts for Systems Change, each of our goals supports an element of community engagement that get us further together.

Mission. Vision. Values. These speak to who and what we are at the core. In the Jesuit tradition of reflection, CCE recently evaluated its values as part of a staff retreat priority. This process helps inform our strategic direction and our commitment to the work happening on campus and in the community. Get to know more of our 'why'.

Join our partner Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) for their big event, Walk For Rice, happening this Saturday, May 16 at Seward Park!

Walk for Rice (walkforrice.org) is this week, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you at Seward Park on Saturday morning, May 16!

We’re honored to welcome back KING 5’s Christine Pae and longtime community leader Harold Taniguchi as our emcees for the day. They’ll guide us through a morning filled with powerful performances from the South Seattle Nepali School, GDPT Truc Lam Lion Dance Team, Apex Diabolo, and Seahawks Dance Team.

Bring your dogs in costume, too! We’ll have a fun dog parade, so our four-legged friends can be part of the Walk for Rice celebration.

Donations to the ACRS Food Bank will be gratefully accepted at the event. We strongly encourage making donations online at WalkforRice.org in advance or by mail to ACRS to ensure they count towards your team's or page's fundraising goal.

If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

We look forward to walking, celebrating, and making a difference with you!
