Our Micah Scholars are such a blessing—to one another and to the communities they serve. 💙 Check out Mary’s beautiful reflection below on learning what it means to live out faith in the healthcare vocations with compassion and purpose.
( 4/10 ) "The Micah Scholar program is a group of pre-health students all focused on helping others. They're really involved in the science classes. It gives us opportunities to get out and do volunteer opportunities. We also get to learn more about how we can practice medicine while also practicing our faith. I think that in medicine, it's kind of difficult because it's a very secular field, but there are ways to include faith in the way that you practice, and the way you talk to your patients, and your uplifting of them. And you don't necessarily have to speak it out loud, but by the way you carry yourself, and also through your values. And so that's, I think, one of the most important parts of the program. It gives us a really good community of others who are like-minded, whereas not all the other pre-med students or health care related students get that. So, we have a group where we can all study together, and ask each other questions if we're not understanding, but we also get to really learn more about what it is to be a Christian health scholar." - Mary Bennett, Micah Scholar, Concordia University, Nebraska
