Saturday is almost here and I can't think of a better way to start the Memorial Day weekend! Come out and support an event that was designed to help our injured veterans! The GCIT Charity Car Show has been using half of the total event proceeds from each show to help our injured soldiers in need. For more information on the charity we contribute to visit www. Fallenheroesfund.org

We will have a color guard of retired USMC veterans participating in our opening ceremony before the singing of our national anthem. Please remember what this weekend holiday is about and remember to always thank a soldier for their service!

Sanders Home Services sponsoring us for a multitude of things this year.

Special thanks to everyone who came out yesterday to support the 3rd annual GCIT Charity Car Show! We can't say enough about our sponsors: P.R. Sanders Inc., AC Auto Paint Supply, Hilla's Diesel Services, C&C supply, Pellegrino Buick GMC, ASL Transportation, Barb's Harley Davidson, NAPA of Williamstown, Graphic Image Tees, Pep Boys of Berlin. Our food vendors: Carolina Blue, Uncle Pig's BBQ, Philly Pretzel Factory, Kona Ice and The Water Ice Station. Thank you for all your generous support of our show!

I'd also like to thank Mrs. Souders, our group of Staff and Alumni volunteers and the Camaro Club of South Jersey for their help. It was also great to see all of our alumni participants & visitors come out for the day as well! I wish I had more time to catch up, but it's hard with so much going on.

Official car count of registered vehicles was 109, we had about 15 late arrivals that came in after registration closed to put our final number around 124. Overall the show went really well even with the few technical issues we had throughout the day. The car count very well could have broken the 160 mark if there wasn't competing events down the road and chance of thunderstorms in the forecast.

Thank You Everyone!!!!!

Donations are finally starting to roll in to our shop! Special thanks to my friend Brian Hartley from Ransome CAT for a truckload of engines! I also would like to thank Jim Willerson@ US Foods for the 3 manual transmissions, 2 Yanmar re**er engines & parts! I also have a complete thermo king re**er unit coming in the next week or so from US Foods and another in the works from a different source.

We are scheduled to get a larger shipment of engine trainers and teaching aids from ACIT sometime next week! Atlantic county vocational closed their Diesel program a few years back, our superintendents worked together to arrange the donation of the remaining items to GCIT!

The GCIT DIesel program will only run if the school can get kids interested in learning this trade to sign up! Please share the Diesel page and pass on this information to any families in the area that have kids nearing their high school years! I also encourage everyone to come out to our upcoming GCIT car/ truck show festival and check the programs out!

Thinking about a career in Diesel Technology?
Diesel is more than just trucks - it's one of the driving forces behind some of today's rapidly advancing technology. Think about all the vehicles and equipment around us that run on Diesel power - oil rigs, power plants, hydraulic systems, locomotives, cargo ships, farming equipment, construction vehicles, mining equipment, and of course Diesel trucks. Diesel is what keeps things moving from coast to coast.

The outlook for skilled Diesel technicians over the next decade is very promising. The U.S. Department of labor and statistics and other career related sources indicate that opportunities in this field with continue to grow. https://www.bls.gov/ooh/installation-maintenance-and-repair/diesel-service-technicians-and-mechanics.htm

Many employers are looking to attract technicians by providing:
• Great starting wages
• Career development opportunities
• Tuition and tool reimbursements
• Medical benefits
• 401K plans
• Paid time off
• Other perks & types of compensation

Diesel service technicians and mechanics inspect, repair, and overhaul buses and trucks, or maintain and repair any type of diesel engine.
