Stop in to say 'HI' to a UW-Sheboygan Alum and the NEW CEO, Jamie Schramm! Welcome back, Jamie, and congratulations!
Jamie Schramm is the new Campus Executive Officer here at UW-green Bay, Sheboygan Campus. Read the questions and answers below to get to know more about our new CEO!
1. As an alumnus of the Sheboygan Campus, what was your favorite memory?
I was fairly active in campus activities such as the Student Gov't Association and Student Life and Interest Committee. Working with my peers was definitely one of the highlights of my time here as a student. By far however, the interaction I had with faculty and their dedication to teaching and inspiring us as students to bigger and better things is not only a favorite memory, but one of the reasons I was motivated to return in my current role.
2. What is your favorite thing about Sheboygan?
Difficult to choose just one favorite thing. Clearly the people of Sheboygan that I've had the pleasure and honor of working with on community projects and initiatives. There are a lot of people sharing ideas, collaborating and inspiring their neighbors, friends, family and co-workers to achieve great results. We are also very fortunate for a community of our size to have such amazing culinary options to choose from!
3. What do you do as Campus Executive Officer?
Being new to this role, I am still learning however, the role is essentially to be a first-line administrator for the Sheboygan campus and refer issues as necessary to the main campus in Green Bay. Having that support from Green Bay is essential so that I can be out in the larger Sheboygan community advocating for our students and campus community, strengthening relationships and creating new and innovative ways to enhance our overall campus experience. My number one priority has to be serving our campus and contributing to its success.
4. What are you most excited for in this new role?
Being able to contribute to the success of others. For anyone in a leadership role to be successful, that has to be what gets them out of bed everyday. The opportunities we have not only in the Sheboygan community, but across all of our campuses to make significant contributions to our students, faculty and community partners is the important work we do and the foundation of "The Wisconsin Idea."
5. Who’s your favorite musician/musicians?
I have wide ranging tastes in music. It all starts with Frank Sinatra of course. We have a "rule" in our family, that if you don't like Frank, you're not part of the family. Two of my favorites are the Eagles and Cheap Trick. I grew up in the 1980's when "hair bands" were popular so I still listen to Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Tesla and Poison. My playlists also have a lot of "traditional country" music like George Jones, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell.
6. If you could travel anywhere? Where would you like to go?
Internationally, it would be Italy. That will happen someday, but I also enjoy spending time in Washington DC and Charleston, S.C.
