NCC can help you get your CDL with our NEW Transportation Training Center !

This is how the CDL process looks with the Entry Level Driver's Training requirements.

Step 1: Get you Commercial Learner's Permit by passing the written tests at a local DOT Driver's License Station or your local county courthouse. You will need to take the tests for CDL General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination for a Class A CDL.

Step 2: Register online (at the bottom of the link) to get set up for your ELDT Theory portion of the process. https://nwicc.edu/events/cdl-training-and-testing-options/

Step 3: Do the 17.5 hours of online Theory at your leisure.

Step 4: Contact NCC at (712) 631-5654 to schedule the next available time to come to NCC's campus to do both of your Behind the Wheel portions of the ELDT. (Range and Road)

Step 5: Come to NCC's campus for 2+ days to complete your Behind the Wheel sections and practice for your DOT test.

Step 6: Test with a DOT Examiner at NCC. (or a local station)

Step 7: GO to the DOT and get you license issued and head out on the road!

Entry Level Driver's Training takes about 2+ days of online Theory and parts of 3 days on campus for the Behind the Wheel portions and DOT testing. Cost for that full week of training is $1495 per person and includes the DOT testing fees. ($150 of the $1495 is paid up front when you register for the online Theory) You may qualify for financial assistance to cover the cost of your training.

We hold Behind the Wheel training sessions weekly. We are usually booked with BTW training about 2-3 weeks in advance, but that does change frequently.

You will need some experience in a larger vehicle prior to attending training at NCC, including how to operate a manual transmission with air brakes. We also stress we are NOT a driving school teaching you how to drive. We are helping and instructing you to meet the requirements of the ELDT while preparing you for your testing with a DOT Examiner. We have over 95% testing success rate for those who attend our EDLT/CDL Class, ON THIER FIRST TRY!

Meet your instructor: Jonathan Holm.

Northwest Iowa Community College is offering a new non-credit continuing education course this fall: Spanish for Healthcare Workers. It's built for nurses, medical assistants, receptionists, and anyone on a care team who wants to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients more confidently.

Jonathan knows this work firsthand. He's been a Spanish interpreter for ten years, certified through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters for nearly eight, and currently interprets at Sioux Center Health. He learned Spanish over years of living in Central America and studying at Northwestern College in Orange City. That means the class isn't about memorizing grammar rules. It's about the words and phrases you'll actually use at the bedside, the front desk, and in the exam room.

The course runs eight Tuesday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., October through December. You don't need any prior Spanish to join.

Sioux County Emergency Management would like to congratulate L𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲-𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿 on his retirement and thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the fire service and the communities he has served.

Dave leaves behind more than just years of service — he leaves behind an incredible l𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲. Throughout his career, countless firefighters, emergency responders, and public safety partners have benefited from his willingness to share what he knows and help others become better at what they do.

In the fire service, some of the most valuable lessons aren’t found in a textbook. They come from years of experience, calls answered, challenges overcome, and knowledge passed from one generation of firefighters to the next. 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴.

While his retirement marks the end of one chapter, the impact he has made will continue through the firefighters and responders he has mentored, trained, worked alongside, and influenced over the years.
