🐘🐘🐘A huge congratulations to the FASTEnER Lab's lovely Margaret (Maggie) Jean! ⭐She helps us weld, she helps us pour molten metal, she helps us 3D print, and she helps us in ways we don't even realize. And tonight she had her very own opening reception at Shepherd University's Phaze 2 Gallery for her BFA Painting Capstone titled "Murmurations". Maggie's show is colorful, exciting, and interactive! Stop by during her show hours this weekend to have a fun and bright conversation with our friend and classmate, and to peel your very own piece of tape from her interactive painting!

🔥A beautiful first pour of The Artist Clark's ( ) Capstone Season!🔥 This weekend there will be more pours at .bea.shepherdstown and more sand blocks will be available for participants to purchase, carve into, and get casted by The Artist Clark. A wonderful, empowering experience - make sure to stop by!

Happy Capstone Season! The FASTEnER Lab is excited to announce the Senior exhibition of our beloved Maggie Orlando 🔥. Come on out to Phaze 2 Gallery during her reception on Friday, April 12th from 5PM to 9PM to grab some food and drinks and see some awesome abstracted art. She also includes laser engraved work in her show! The FASTEnER Lab is so excited and proud to see Maggie's final show at Shepherd, and we wish her the best of luck⭐️

Happy Birthday to Clark ( ) and their new furnace baby! Clark is currently completing their Capstone semester and has been working diligently to create a furnace of her own. On Clarks birthday the FASTEnER Lab crew melted and poured aluminum using it! Congrats, Clark!! 🔥🎂🔥

Bronze and Iron pour in Irene, the lovely furnace by Ronda Wright ( )! Because of our snow days and below-freezing temperatures the FASTEnER Team was able to pour iron into a massive ice brick. It was awesome to see (from 10ft away LOL). Thank you, Ronda!🌈

Who will monitor the monitors when they feel like the 2nd pic???
These are the after hour monitors for the Spring 2024 semester, and these are the people you can ask for help or advice regarding your classes or various machines in the shop area! Check out the schedule every day to see who will be keeping the shop open later, they should be posted on the outside doors in a bit!

The workshop and artist talk with Ronda Wright ( ) yesterday was a great success! Students and community members from Shepherd have now contributed to the Artifacts of Home exhibit that has been shown all over the U.S.! On Monday (From 10-2PM) the FASTEnER Lab will be pouring metal with Ronda in order to bring these wax artifacts to life, then they will become part of her ever growing archive. What an awesome project!!

🔊Digi-Fab students are working hard during the first week of the semester! These are photos from the intro to Rhino lectures. Soon this class will be engraving on food products using rhino tools to make a banquet of disturbing and unique food items... exciting times!!!🍎🍌🍞🥩🍰🍽

➡Here are some up-close and personal pictures of the "Appreciation Masks" from last semester! The FASTEnER lab crew hopes everyone is having a great January, and classes are starting smoothly. Look out for a studio monitor post with updated shop hours and pictures of this semesters monitors, just in case you need to have access to the studio after class hours.

💬 Spring semester is loading... 💬
While you wait, here are some awesome "Appreciation Masks" from the fall semester (up-close pictures coming soon!!) To create concepts for these masks, students were asked to research a deity or spirit from a non-Western culture and synthesize forms important to the story of this deity with animals and personal elements. All the masks are 3x the size of a human head and made of cardboard!
