Phaze 2 gallery is pleased to present Just Imagined a solo exhibition by Liz Lescault on view April 13, 2026 - May 15.

Bio:
Liz Lescault, a self-taught artist, is recognized for her biomorphic sculpture. Her artistic journey began with clay, initially as a potter and subsequently as a sculptor. In "Just Imagined", my sculptures involve a variety of media. Some pieces are composed solely of clay, others solely of extruded filament and others are combined with mixed media including glass, clay and found objects.Throughout her career, Liz has received numerous awards including the Maryland State Individual Artist’s Award. She has also staged seven solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows. She was a member of Red Dirt Studios, an art incubator and seminar, before becoming a member of Otis Street Arts Project, a studio, exhibition space, and art incubator. Liz lived in Africa for six years where she studied traditional ceramic techniques. A selection of her work is part of the permanent collection at the National Museum of Botswana. Subsequently she resided in France, where she studied watercolor. Over the years, Liz has taught both children and adults across various media and currently she is an online art facilitator for Smith Center and the Healing Arts.

About the Artist:
“My sculpture is biomorphic, combining elements from all forms and stages of life—active and inert, living and dead. My work can be simultaneously sensual, scientific, and contemplative."In "Just Imagined", my sculptures involve a variety of media. Some pieces are composed solely of clay, others solely of extruded filament and others are combined with mixed media including glass, clay and found objects. They invoke organic life forms intended to feel familiar, yet are entirely imagined and improvisational in process. I begin with the seed of an idea and allow each piece to evolve spontaneously. The fine filaments that compose my sculptures create delicate shadows, which become an integral part of the work, sometimes indistinguishable from the sculptures themselves. I am fascinated by remnants that illuminate the essence of organic forms. Shadows, fossils, and residue are a part of an object’s story and are used in scientific discovery. Remnants and shadows tell us more about the existing nature of an object, enhancing our perception of it.”

Meet the Artists!

About Mark Cameron:
Mark Cameron is a Baltimore artist with over thirty years’ experience working in the academic, non-profit, and public sectors. He was Associate Professor in Architecture and Landscape Architecture at Morgan State University (1991-2000) and Executive Director of the Neighborhood Design Center (2000-2012). Since 2012 he has worked for Baltimore City Department of Public Works as a watershed planner. He has master’s degrees in architecture and landscape architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati.

Mark started making art in 2020 during COVID, initially in his apartment and then in the Mill Center in Hampden. His studio is currently in his garage in the Ednor Gardens - Lakeside neighborhood. Over the past year his work has focused on using wood and found materials to make sculptural objects. He is married, has two grown children, and a cat.

About Brian Truesdale:

Brian Truesdale is an abstract painter whose work grew from an early fascination with Abstract Expressionism. Largely self-taught, he developed his practice through intensive studio work, museum study, and mentorship from local artists, using abstraction as a way to explore emotion and identity.

Over the past decade, Truesdale has presented 14 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group and juried shows nationwide. His work has been featured at First Street Gallery and Prince Street Gallery in New York, the Delaware Contemporary, the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and Mary Washington University, with solo exhibitions at the Arts Club of Washington, DC, and the Susquehanna Art Museum in Harrisburg, PA.

On View: Monday, January 5 - Friday, March 6, 2026
Opening Reception: Tuesday, January 13 | 4 PM to 6 PM

ToUgH sHaPeS on view at Shepherd University's Phaze 2 gallery explores the most basic principles of art and design in relation to two and three dimensional art. More specifically how it shapes our relationship with objects and composition. Brian Truesdale and Mark Cameron both work with geometry in unique and innovative ways - the works [in dialogue with one another] explore how shape can transform a space or guide our perception and experience of an artwork. ToUgH sHaPeS is on view through March 6, 2026 with an opening reception to be held on Tuesday, January 13 from 4 PM to 6 PM.

bio | artist statement

aimee george is an artist and educator native to the Shenandoah Valley. She teaches all manner of photography and computer imagery at Shepherd University where she also serves as the Coordinator for the Photography and Computer Imagery Program. An alumna of Shepherd, aimee elatedly returned to the landscape that first shaped her creative roots. Her work moves between traditional, alternative and historic photographic processes, expanding into digital imaging, with a deep focus on sustainable, plant- based methods drawn directly from the natural world.

Rooted in her Appalachian heritage and Ayurvedic practice, aimee’s art explores, the delicate yet extreme, cycles and contrasts of life—light | shadow // growth | decay // stillness | movement // expansion | contraction, and the ways these forces mirror human emotional and physical experience—desire | aversion // love | fear // masculine | feminine // pain | pleasure // creation | destruction. The work examines the intricacies of natural systems and human connection, honoring cycles of transformation and the unseen energies that bind all living things. Through interdisciplinary practices, she cultivates a dialogue between earth, body, and spirit, creating imagery that is both a reflection and a meditation on interconnectedness and the subtle yet profound rhythms of life.

Sanzi Kermes: Hummm Thrummm
On View: October 6 - November 9, 2025
Closing Reception: November 4 | 4 PM to 6 PM

In Hummm Thrummm, Baltimore artist Sanzi Kermes transforms repurposed wedding dresses into living testaments of memory using techniques that are ubiquitous in her art practice. Kermes has added layers of visual appeal that include fabric, beads, and origami memorabilia. The multi-channel audio, with cicadas, crickets, traffic noises, and Lorraine’s recordings of her own haiku set to her rhythmic music, adds layering to the visual cues at hand.

Painted, screen printed, beaded, and layered with whispered stories, each dress hums with ancestral echoes — the thrum of thread and heartbeat runs through its seams. This immersive installation invites you to move among altered artifacts of love, ritual, and expectation—listening not just with your ears, but with your whole body.
