Our hearts go out to the family and friends of these brave community servants. The law enforcement community is suffering and heartbroken.

The Seattle Police Department mourns our region's recent and significant law enforcement losses. The three deaths from neighboring agencies have been extremely difficult for family, friends, coworkers, and community members. The SPD extends its deepest condolences to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the Everett Police Department, and the Edmonds Police Department and knows the courage and commitment of these three will never be forgotten.

Stay Strong & Stay Safe.

Heartbreaking.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Dom Calata just passed away after he was shot by a violent criminal yesterday while serving a high-risk search warrant.

Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and in your prayers. 🙏🏽

35-year-old Deputy Dominique “Dom” Calata served with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department for 6.5 years and was assigned to patrol with the Edgewood Police Department. He’s a U.S. Army veteran (5 years) and has served in the National Guard for the last 7 years. Deputy Calata had been a member of the SWAT team for 4 years. He was married and had a young son.

Carmen Best's (former SPD chief) book came out yesterday. (she was also on the Today Show - she is a LE "expert/ commentator" for NBC) My copy is on it's way to my house. She is an amazing role model and a person of great integrity. The Seattle City Council was too stupid to realize the talented, smart, experienced chief they had and NEVER even consulted her as they moved forward with defunding the police. We all know how that turned out. The council is trying to throw more $ at it and now hire more officers due to the escalating crime problem- and shocker - no one wants to work for SPD.

Congratulations to Chief Bennett. This is great news for Edmonds PD. Chief Bennett has always been a good friend to SCC (and adjunct instructor) as well as advisory committee member for our CJ program. She joins a legacy of great police chiefs at Edmonds PD and will be working with many of our SCC graduates.

Michelle Bennett, who has served as interim chief for five months, will be paid $184,694 a year.

There are no words to convey our sadness for the death of Lexi. She is a shining example of our dedicated police officers who go above and beyond to help their community. She stopped to help at an accident scene on I-5 on her way home from work and was struck and killed. One of the 3 people she stopped to help then stole her car. What has happened to our society?

"Out of their sense of duty, their sense of responsibility… they are no longer with us."

Alexandra "Lexi" Harris, who had been with the Seattle Police Department for five years, was struck and killed by a vehicle early yesterday morning when she stopped to help others involved in a crash on I-5: https://bit.ly/3zrZWPq

He was a leader in DUI enforcement and known for his caring and kindness, even to those he arrested.
