Please join us in congratulating our SHPS June 2026 Student of the Month, Matthew Sayre, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) student! 🎉

Matthew was selected based on multiple nominations recognizing his outstanding service, leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the SHPS community.

Throughout the semester, Matthew has volunteered his time and energy to support numerous SHPS events, including graduation, the pre-graduation awards ceremony, and New Student Orientation. Nominators shared that he consistently goes above and beyond by arriving early, staying late, and willingly stepping in wherever help is needed to ensure events run smoothly.

Matthew’s positive attitude, servant leadership spirit, and commitment to supporting his fellow classmates have made a meaningful impact on the SHPS community. As an Army Veteran, he brings dedication, discipline, leadership, and a strong work ethic to everything he does, while also continuing to give back through volunteer efforts supporting the veteran community.

The 7th Annual Sanders Hearing Screening event was a hit! Our SLP Program celebrated National Speech-Language-Hearing Month by offering free snow cones and hearing screenings to the community. 👂🗣💜

This prestigious recognition highlights a career of meaningful impact in research, clinical care and community engagement. We were excited to welcome the Bayou North AHEC group to our rehabilitation clinic. They learned about careers in occupational therapy and physical therapy, explored the pathways to pursue them, and enjoyed some hands-on fun! 💪🏃‍♀️🚗

From CPS, CVT, MLS, OT, PT, PA, and SLP, we loved seeing so many smiling faces excited to begin their journey into healthcare careers. Students had the opportunity to meet faculty, connect with classmates, explore campus, and get a first look at the incredible experiences ahead of them.
