LSUS CS Mini Job Fair – April 30, 2025, at the LSUS Collaboratory

To all LSUS Computer Science Students:
Tomorrow is the day of a big annual even for Computer Science, The parts of interest to students with be Senior Capstone Project Demonstrations (starting at 1:00 pm) and a mini Computer Science Job Fair (Starting at approximately 3:00p pm – after the project presentations end). There will be 8 to 10 companies at the job fair! Professor Shahrdar, who teaches the Capstone courses for us, set-up the job fair. We had done the Capstone Project presentations for many years, but last year Professor Shahrdar suggested we add a job fair to the end. He contacted and arranged for the companies both last year and this year. As many of you know, there were few companies hiring CS at the University Job Fair. At this job fair there will be more and it will be focused on Computer Science related positions. Hope to see you there!

Recent Graduate Opportunity - CTI

Dear Students and Recent Graduates,
Have you heard of the Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Talent Initiative (CTI)? CTI is a unique public-private partnership run by the Partnership for Public Service that aims to recruit, train and retain a world-class digital workforce. CTI is a selective 2-year opportunity for recent graduates of cybersecurity and AI-related fields to gain vital public sector work experience, network, build leadership ability, and enhance technical skills. Fellows selected for the program are placed at a federal agency with cybersecurity needs (including your favorite agency, CISA!).
The best news? CTI is now accepting applications until November 8!
Applicant Requirements:
• Must be a current cyber student set to graduate between now and August 2025 OR a recent cyber graduate who graduated in or after January 2023. Completion of a cyber-related undergraduate or graduate degree (among others: computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering, information security, data science, machine learning, or mathematics) with an expected graduation date between January 2023 and August 2025.
• U.S. citizenship at the time of application submission.
• Superior academic achievement.

What happens after you apply?
The Partnership for Public Service reviews and assesses candidates based on their qualifications and application package, then selects candidates to be semifinalists and finalists. Finalists are entered into a pool that federal agencies can select candidates from. Federal agencies will review applications and ultimately make offers during the spring and summer of 2025. Most finalists will start their positions in the summer and fall of 2025.

2024 Summer Internship Program (US citizens only)

Summer internships for college and university students at the freshman level through PhD to work on-site with AFRL researchers on a wide variety of research projects.

Applications for the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) Summer Undergrad Research Program are now open at: https://www.louisianacancercenter.org/research/undergraduate-summer-program

The deadline for these applications is March 1st.

The goal of this program is to provide undergraduate students that are interested in cancer research with a cancer research experience in one of the laboratories of LCRC faculty (Tulane, LSU Health, Xavier University) for 10 weeks in Summer 2024 in New Orleans. Career development activities are also included as well as participation in a Research Symposium.

The program provides a stipend of $6,500 per student to support housing, travel, and other student expenses.

We are reaching out to you from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) with information about our Summer Institute in Biostatistics and Data Science. We are hoping that you will share this information with your students who may be interested in exploring a career in biostatistics or data science. We currently have positions available and strongly encourage applicants from Texas and surrounding states!

The UTMB Summer Institute in Biostatistics and Data Science (SIBDS) is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The comprehensive seven-week summer training course (from June 8 – July 27) on biostatistics and principles of data science combines classroom learning with career mentoring and hands-on data analysis using data collected from clinical studies in prevention and treatment of infectious, immune-mediated, and chronic diseases. Designed to address a growing imbalance between the demand and supply for biostatisticians and data scientists, the course targets rising junior and senior undergraduates who are interested in learning about biostatistics and encourages them to consider graduate programs related to biostatistics and data science. The typical curricula include an intensive introduction to biostatistical approaches and research by exposing participants to the principles, methodologies, uses, and applications of statistical methods in biomedical and clinical research.

What’s in it for students? Participants in the SIBDS summer program will...
• Learn the principles of biostatistics and data science from recognized experts in the field
• Meet and learn from practicing biostatisticians and investigators engaged in medical research
• Gain hands-on experience working with data collected in internationally recognized studies
