“The roll of the workmen has been called”
In Loving Memory of Brother Norman “Nookie” Goldman
🕯️ 1936 – January 22, 2026 🕯️

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Brother Norman “Nookie” Goldman, who was called from labor on January 22, 2026, at the age of 89.

Brother Goldman was a devoted Mason for fifty-nine years, exemplifying a lifetime of commitment to the principles of our Fraternity. He was a proud United States Army veteran and a loving husband to his childhood sweetheart, Glory, with whom he shared sixty-nine years of marriage.

Norman was deeply devoted to his family and was known for his warmth, intellect, and generosity of spirit. His character, service, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Funeral Service honoring Brother Goldman’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11:30 AM. A Zoom link for remote attendance is included in the obituary.

May his memory be a blessing.

🎩 23rd District Potluck Dinner

Despite the inclement weather, the 23rd District came together for an evening defined by fellowship, families, laughter, and genuine togetherness. The weather outside did little to slow the spirit inside, as Brethren gathered to share an impressive spread of food, enjoy good company, and strengthen the bonds that unite us.

Midway through the evening, it was clear that the tone and success of the gathering reflected strong leadership. Thank you to RW Ross for hosting the potluck dinner and for providing the guidance and hospitality that continue to keep the 23rd District connected. Your efforts ensure that opportunities for fellowship remain strong, even when conditions are less than ideal.

Like a well-laid foundation weathering the elements, the night showed how unity, shared labor, and mutual respect reinforce the structure we are building together. When each Brother brings what he can to the table, differences are leveled, actions are squared by kindness, and the cement of brotherly love continues to bind the 23rd District firmly together.

🎳 Brotherhood Bowling Night – December 17

On December 17, the Brethren gathered for a lively Brotherhood Bowling Night at Bowlero in Shrewsbury, and the evening delivered exactly what it promised—fellowship, laughter, and good-natured competition.

Frames were rolled, strikes were celebrated, spares were debated, and plenty of camaraderie filled the lanes. Nights like this remind us that Freemasonry is not confined to the lodge room alone—it lives wherever Brothers come together in harmony, shared purpose, and enjoyment of one another’s company.

In a lighthearted Masonic sense, bowling offers its own allegory: each Brother steps to the line on his own approach, yet the game is richer when played together. We aim carefully, adjust after each frame, and learn that even a missed pin is not failure—only instruction for the next roll. Progress is measured not by perfection, but by perseverance, balance, and good spirits along the way.

Masonry should be meaningful—but it should also be fun. Brotherhood grows strongest when labor is tempered with laughter and fellowship. Well done to all who joined, and here’s to many more frames rolled together, on the level.

🎄 Friendly House Christmas Dinner – December 9

On December 9, Brethren from Level Lodge were honored to attend and support the Friendly House Christmas Dinner—an evening defined by generosity, warmth, and true community spirit.

We extend our sincere thanks to Friendly House for the extraordinary work they do year-round in service to families, children, and those in need within our community. Level Lodge is proud to stand behind their mission and to support efforts that bring dignity, opportunity, and hope to so many.

The evening itself was exceptional. The performance was outstanding, the comedian kept the room lively with well-timed humor, and we were privileged to experience a truly world-class singer whose presence elevated the night and brought joy to all in attendance. Fellowship was strong, spirits were high, and the room reflected what the season is meant to embody.

In a Masonic sense, the night reminded us that charity is not merely an act, but a working tool—one that smooths the rough edges of hardship and helps build a stronger moral edifice for future generations. When labor is guided by compassion and harmony, the structure we raise together stands firm for the benefit of all.

🦃 Franklin Lodge Turkey Shoot – November 22

On November 22, Franklin Lodge hosted an outstanding Turkey Shoot at the North Grafton Fish, Game, and Bird Club in Grafton, Massachusetts.

Sincere thanks to Franklin Lodge for the hospitality, the organization, and the generous turkeys that brought Brethren together in fellowship. The event was a strong example of brotherhood in action—veterans had the opportunity to polish skills grown rusty with time, while first-timers learned proper fi****ms safety and handling under the close supervision of trained instructors. Skill, patience, and discipline were on full display.

Beyond the marksmanship, this day reflected something deeper. Just as the Mason is taught to refine the rough ashlar into a stone fit for the builder’s use, so too do we sharpen our faculties through instruction, restraint, and mutual support. The tools may differ, but the lesson remains the same: mastery begins with self-control, knowledge guided by wisdom, and labor carried out for the good of our Craft.

Well done to Franklin Lodge and all who attended. This was fellowship with purpose, tradition with meaning, and light shared among Brothers and friends.

Brotherhood Dinner – Level Lodge

An evening of Brazilian cuisine, fine company, and warm hospitality — our brethren from Level Lodge gathered for a wonderful Brotherhood Dinner that celebrated friendship, culture, and fellowship.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to Neuber and the incredible team at Terra Brasilis Restaurant for hosting us with such care and attention. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome with a reserved seating area for our lodge, attentive service, and a genuine spirit of hospitality. The food was outstanding — especially the picanha and alcatra, which was a favorite among many — and brothers enjoyed sampling a wide variety of authentic Brazilian dishes and desserts, including Brazilian flan, coconut cake, and other delicious specialties.

Evenings like this remind us how much these gatherings strengthen our bonds of Brotherly Love and allow us to share in the light of fellowship that defines our Craft. It was a night filled with laughter, conversation, and genuine connection — a true reflection of what it means to meet on the level.

Thank you again to all the Brethren who joined us, and to Terra Brasilis for providing such a memorable experience.

⚒️“More Than Rehearsal: The Labor That Shapes the Lodge”📜

From the insights of a seasoned Brother to the questions of the most junior officer, rehearsal is where the Craft truly comes alive. Within the quiet rhythm of opening and closing, we rediscover the meaning behind every symbol, gesture, and word. Each repetition shapes the Lodge as surely as the chisel shapes the stone, teaching us not only how to govern the Lodge — but how to govern ourselves.

A well-rehearsed Lodge is not built by memory alone, but by understanding. It is in these moments — when wisdom is shared, patience is practiced, and light is exchanged — that we perfect our work upon the trestleboard. For it is through labor, reflection, and fellowship that the rough ashlar is made smooth, and the harmony of the Lodge is preserved. 🕯️🏛️🔺
