John Brown University Archives

John Brown University Archives The John Brown University Archives Office exists to further the public's understanding of the origins, programs, and goals of John Brown University.

While most of our collections exist to promote research and scholarship, the archives staff is ready to address the questions of anyone interested in even the smallest fragment of JBU history. We regularly address inquiries concerning genealogical research, local history, and alumni information. An increasing number of our services are free of charge. Visitors are welcome at any time during our office hours, but are advised to call ahead.

Recently had a great addition of Sound Generation photos donated to archives, unfortunately the photos were all kept in this sticky kind of photo album.

If you have photos stored in this kind of album, I suggest moving them to a sleeve style album, as these photos have all semi permanently adhered to the pages and require slow and careful removal.

Today I'm learning all about how to care for trombones, and trying to track down a tangible connection between the new donation and JBU, other than just word of mouth 😄

We survived our first minor hiccup of Homecoming, and it is turning into a beautiful fall day on campus.

But if you come to visit, you may want to grab a jacket :-)

Countdown to Homecoming!

If you're coming this weekend, make sure to drop by and say hi. If you can't make it to the office, be sure to look for our displays around campus!

We've been hosting tours for Gateway these last two weeks (all incoming students are required to have this class) - This is the last week of tours and I think the office is going to be awful lonely without them coming in!

Good thing we have Homecoming prep to keep us busy :D

Organizing files on my computer has brought up a lot of good memories - lately I've been looking back on a number of Mock Rock performances.

While I can't post them here, I'd love to hear any memories you have of student events!

This past semester, one of my graduating students decided to create something to remember his time in Archives.

I give you, The Archives Awakens, the trailer. Justin poured his heart into this project, and all of us were thrilled to take part in it. Keep an eye out for a special appearance 😉

In today's research, we uncovered the fact that the very first WI-Fi hotspots on campus were opened in Spring 2004 - I simultaneous don't remember having it then, and don't remember not having it during all my years on campus.
