Attn Morningside College History Alumni:
Please take a moment to read the letter below from Dr. Bass. He has been making personal email contacts when possible, but we realize that, for a variety of reasons, some folks have not yet been reached.
Hello!
I am asking a favor here. I know that you may choose not to grant it; always know that I will always be OK with that.
But I am trying to put together a new website for the Department of History, and I could use your help.
You could write a small testimonial about how well the courses that you took with us (knowledge, skills, insights, etc.) have helped you as you have gone forward in life after Morningside. If you could also relate one special experience that you had connected with our department (in class, out of class, talking with a faculty member in the department, advising/mentoring, etc.) that you believe particularly memorable or that affected you positively in some important sense, that would be great. What made your experiences with our department somehow meaningful and successful? A few lines along this path would help us substantially.
This testimonial need not be long, nor well-polished. But I could use it sooner rather than later. And can I have your permission to edit your testimonial for length (and grammar, etc., not changing the meaning)? Please indicate so explicitly. If you prefer not to grant me that authority, that is fine, too; but also indicate that denial explicitly.
And thanks, even if you choose not to participate. Know that I chose to write to you advisedly to make this request because I value your opinion. Also know that I hope to hear from you about how things are going, in general, apart from this request.
Hope to hear from you soon!
P
