STC Nursing Student Organization | March Madness… but make it meaningful 🏀💚

This semester, our NSO students turned teamwork into impact.

Through t-shirt sales, they raised funds and then did something pretty fun with it—they voted through a March Madness-style bracket to decide how to give back to the community. After some close matchups and thoughtful discussion… it came down to an almost exact tie.

And honestly? That felt like the right kind of problem to have.

With the help of a few additional donations, our students didn’t choose just one…
👉 They chose TWO incredible community impacts.

🐾 Sioux Falls Area Humane Society
Students assembled 20 “New Paw-Rent Bags” (10 dog + 10 cat), filled with treats and toys to go home with newly adopted pets and their families.
They also put together an additional donation including pet food and office supplies to support daily operations.

🎒 The Banquet
Students created 14 full-size backpacks and 2 mini backpacks (for the littlest community members) filled with supplies to support their upcoming backpack giveaway.

This project wasn’t just about giving—it was about collaboration, compassion, and community. Our students truly embodied what it means to care for others beyond the clinical setting.

We are so grateful for organizations like these and proud of our students for making a difference.

STC NSO | Sip, Slice & Socialize Recap 🍕🥤🍪

Our Spring Social was a wonderful evening of connection, laughter, and a great reminder of the community that makes STC Nursing so special.

✔️ Sip: The Soda Rx Bar was a hit, featuring creative favorites like The Night Shift, Code Blue, and The IV Drip 🥤💊
✔️ Slice: Plenty of Papa John’s pizza to keep everyone fueled 🍕
✔️ A Little Flexibility: When pie wasn’t available, we made a quick pivot to cookies—and they were just as enjoyed! 🍪

🎉 BINGO Fun:
Several rounds of BINGO brought lots of smiles, with students winning gift cards and even a few full pizzas to take home.

💥 Special Highlight: Pie an Instructor
A fun and lighthearted moment where Mr. Christian (adjunct clinical instructor) and NSO Advisor Mrs. Pottratz (faculty) both volunteered to participate—bringing plenty of laughter to the evening. *See videos below in comments*

From start to finish, it was a fantastic turnout filled with positive energy, connection, and well-deserved fun during a busy semester.
