Each year, the Department of Literature, Languages, Cultures, and Writing asks the professors teaching ENG 102 Critical Reading to submit the best student essays from their classes for consideration for the James Strickland Writing Award.

Go to our website and read the runner ups "No Longer Breathing Easy" by Hayden Fritz and "The Early Bird Gets an F" by Madison Barr, and the winner "Allowing the Mistreatment of Black Americans" by Daniel Tooson!

Congratulations to all!

Our next few posts are going to be staff introductions! First up is our lovely faculty advisor, Dr. Stryffeler!

Dr. Stryffeler teaches English at Slippery Rock. He is into the outdoors and his favorite type of literature to read is American Literature.

Without him, RSP wouldn't be a thing, so we really owe him a thank you for creating this wonderful organization for SRU! 🙂
