On this day in 1752, George Washington became a Freemason at the age of 20. It was an enormously important part of the rest of his life.

"Being persuaded that a just application of the principles, on which the Masonic Fraternity is founded, must be promotive of private virtue and public prosperity, I shall always be happy to advance the interests of the Society, and to be considered by them as a deserving brother."

My brothers, I just learned that our past master, Simon Davison has laid down the working tools of life. His facebook shows the following:

"With the death of Simon a huge hole has opened in our hearts and lives. He passed away early Sunday morning at Stonybrook Hospital quickly and without suffering. A memorial will be held at Moloney’s Funeral Home, 132 Ronkonkoma Ave., Lake Ronkonkoma on Friday evening from 7 to 9pm (Masonic service tentatively at 8pm) and again Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4pm."
