Jean Sammet '48, who many of you met last year, and who has been a great supporter of our department, a pioneer in computing, and a role model to young women, has passed away.

Jean Sammet ’48, one of the most important early pioneers in computer science, was a long-time supporter and advocate for Mount Holyoke.
