As the transition from Cox College to The Alliance for Health Care Education continues, the Cox College signage is scheduled to be removed on July 13. While the name on the building is changing, our commitment to students remains the same. This change will not affect students' progress toward their educational goals, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow into the next generation of health care professionals.

Another Cox College Commencement is in the books as 167 graduates officially crossed the stage Friday morning, May 15, at the O’Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University—ready to begin careers that will impact the lives of patients and communities for years to come.

The ceremony opened with greetings from Stuart Lipscomb on behalf of the Cox College Board of Trustees, followed by a welcome from Dr. Sonya Hayter, President of Cox College.

This year’s commencement address was delivered by Kacie Craig, former director of the Associate of Science in Radiography program and current Family Programming Advisor for The Cute Syndrome Foundation and Patient Advocate Consultant.

Drawing from Craig's experiences as both a healthcare professional and the mother of a child with a rare genetic disorder, she reminded graduates that while skill and clinical knowledge are vital, compassion and humanity are what patients remember most.

Through deeply personal stories, Craig reflected on the small acts of kindness from healthcare workers that helped her family through some of their most difficult moments—moments that left a lasting impact.

Her message to the Class of 2026 was both simple and profound: what you do in healthcare matters, but who you are matters just as much.

Congratulations to all of our graduates. We are proud of all you have accomplished and cannot wait to see the difference you will make in the world.

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students was presented to Sophie Bleau, who demonstrated compassionate patient care while treating others with kindness, respect, and empathy.

“Her dedication, teamwork, and caring spirit make her truly deserving of this recognition—and she will undoubtedly make an exceptional nurse.”

CRNA Golden Ticket Awards
Each semester, faculty select four students—two from the ASN program and two from the BSN program—to receive the Missouri State University (MSU) Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Golden Ticket recommendation. Students who receive this distinction are granted an automatic interview for the highly competitive MSU CRNA program upon meeting eligibility requirements. Of the hundreds of applicants each year, only 60 are selected to interview, with just 30 ultimately admitted into the program.

ASN recipients: Lauren Dahle and Bailey Clark
BSN recipients: Emily Goddard and Alexa Delani Richart

The evening concluded with the traditional pinning ceremony, as friends, family, and faculty presented each graduate with their nursing pin—symbolizing the beginning of their professional journey in nursing.

Graduates then joined together in reciting the Nightingale Pledge, led by Professor Angela Ford, followed by the Blessing of the Hands prayer led by Professor Rachel Hodge.

Many thanks to the SNA officers—President Macie Vestal; Vice President and Fundraising Coordinator Krystal Hill; Secretary Daniel Valentino; and SNA Assistant Elaina Pingle—for planning the ceremony.

A special thank you to Lisa Alexander and the CoxHealth Foundation for sponsoring the event and supporting the scholarships made available through the Foundation.

We proudly congratulate all of our nursing graduates. Your dedication, compassion, and commitment to patient care embody the very best of the nursing profession, and we look forward to seeing the impact you will make in the lives of others.

The Cox College Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) and Master of Nutrition Diagnostics (MND) Graduate Showcase was presented Thursday afternoon, March 14th, at the Ozark Room at the Meyer Center. The event brought together friends, family, faculty, clinicians, and community members to celebrate the advanced scholarly work of our students.

MND students presented evidence-based research focused on holistic nutritional care, while OTD students showcased the outcomes of extensive capstone projects developed through months of research, collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on community experience.

The OTD presentations highlighted innovative work in program development, patient education, research, and community outreach—demonstrating how occupational therapy can create meaningful impact for individuals and underserved populations. Several projects have already received acceptance for national dissemination, with students earning recognition for advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and entrepreneurial innovation.

We are incredibly proud of our students, faculty, mentors, and advisors for all they have accomplished. Congratulations to all of our graduates on this outstanding achievement!
