The Physics, Astronomy, and Materials Science Department is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service in each of our disciplines, which allows us to provide the best possible learning environment for our undergraduate and graduate students. Our faculty members are deeply involved in research activities that include neural networks, the scholarship of teaching (instead, perhaps “me

thodology of physics education”), the astrophysics of pulsating stars, energy, and the fabrication and development of nanotechnology devices. Department members provide community service at the local, regional, and national levels.

PAMS OS is now partnered with SAO STARS program. The program's main goal is to give every rural student in America the opportunity to build a connection with astronomy and STEM by donating a telescope to their schools.

In preparation for a future rollout of the program in Missouri, PAMS OS will be hosting several workshops at Baker Observatory for teachers.
