Springfield College Communications Sports Journalism

Springfield College Communications Sports Journalism This is the official page for Communications/Sports Journalism at Springfield College. The major constantly weaves together theory and practice.

The Communications/Sports Journalism major is designed to educate students in the fields of print, TV, radio and online journalism so that they may work in the media profession and/or pursue graduate studies in communications. The major seeks not only to provide pre-professional training, but also to educate the student in the traditional liberal arts and humanities. Be sure to visit SCStudentMedi

a.com -- a student-run multimedia news and information website -- to get a true sense of the program's campus presence.) The major is interdisciplinary, allowing the student to pursue individual interests and providing a broad cultural context for the specialized field of communications/sports journalism. From day one, students are encouraged to dive into "real world journalism" through field experiences, internships, and exposure to professional journalists. For more information about the communications/sports journalism major, contact Professor Martin Dobrow of the Humanities Department at (413) 748-3253 or the Admissions Office at (800) 343-1257.

A truly wonderful day for the entire family Monday, as national broadcasting personality JR Jackson (JR SportBrief, CBS Sports Radio) kicked off his coast-to-coast Media For The Movement tour with a stop on Alden Street.

JR spoke with a large group of current students, before spending the afternoon with a smaller contingent of radio/audio students. He then wrapped his night broadcasting his national show from WSCB 89.9 FM, and Birthplace Audio Studios.
