The Theater Program at American International College currently offers a minor in theater arts and produces two productions each academic year. The theater program is growing and currently gives students a base understanding of theater arts through the current courses offered. Students are also given opportunities to apply what they have learned each semester in the current production based theate

r workshop courses. The Garret Players, the student theater organization on campus is devoted to supporting and producing theater productions on campus in conjunction with the Department of Theater Arts. The Garret Players were founded many years ago by various members of the college community due to their interest in the collaborative art of theater. The mission of the Garret Players is to broaden the dialogue about theater on campus and in the surrounding community by volunteering with community based arts organizations and by fundraising for theatrical productions and events on campus.

If you are attending the production of Oedipus Rex this evening, Friday or Saturday, the house opens at 6:30 with show time strictly at 7pm. Our show runs one hour with no intermission. On Friday evening we invite our audience and college community to join us for a small reception after the play in the West Wing Art Gallery. Seating is on stage for this prouduction and seats are limited to 40 each performance . Admission is free but we graciously accept donations to the Theater Arts Program at the door. Parking is available across the street from the Griswold Theatre Building and handicap accessible parking is available next to the building. We hope you can come and support the work of these wonderful AIC students.

The Theater Arts Program at AIC is proud to announce its first production since the start of the covid pandemic. Sophocles, Oedipus Rex will be performed on the stage of the Griswold Theatre on the AIC campus at 1000 State Street Springfield, Massachusetts.

Performance Dates: Thursday, December 2nd @ 7pm

Friday, December 3rd @ 7pm

Saturday, December 4th at 7pm


There are only 40 seats on stage for each performance

Admission is free and donations to the Theater Arts Program at the door will be accepted.
